Is this a worthwhile upgrade?

not needed

If you fly mega hard 3D with a 10s 600, then yes, very worth while!

Depends what motor your using, and type of flying.
On the 600 I have the Orbit 30-12 and it does need it. If you pitch pump the heli or do really fast tick tock's, the motor and pinion moves away from the main gear and strips it on the outside. I hear the Actro motors don't move and therefore don't need it. Im not sure about the hacker but I know that Andy uses one.

With the mod 5 gears it is adviced too.
I'm using it with the Actro motor, can't hurt.

Well I went ahead and ordered one. I am using the Orbit 25-8 which is a beast, so I figured, why not? I am into this heli for over $2300 (flybarless) at this point so what's another $25? :wow2:

You are putting this on a 6S 5003D? Before installing this understand it hangs down a fair ways, it will in fact interfere with a 6S pack in height. As stated this is for 10S machines, 6S do not need it, no matter which motor you use. I have a machine with the 25-8 on 15tooth you mention, zero issues without a CB on any 6S machine I am running, which is 3 of them.

I didn't go with one cuz unless it was apparent I was repeatedly stripping gears. So far my gears have been solid so I see no reason to add the extra weight.

Woops okay I'll put it on the shelf. Thanks for the advice.

For the sake of clarity and posterity... this thread is talking about the counterbearing...

You know there is one possiblity of using it with a 6S setup on a L500. The 6S 5350 evolites are a bit shorter than the FP 5000 evos. I believe this would work from what I remember the one time I flew with a buddies evolite.

I just replace my TT OBL 49/08-50H motor " it was trully a moster" with 1915h1y. The problem is the bolting screws used for the neu motors are larger than the standard holes on the counterbearing. Has anyone safely drilled these hole out successfully or is there a different counterbearing for this task. Thanks
