What's the best place to mount the SK360?
I assume it should go directly under the main shaft to sense the 2-axis tilt on the center point?

Pictures if you have 'em :P

Thanks!

It must be flat and 90 to the main shaft. Also since it has gyro sensors in it, you want to keep it away from possible noise like motors, ESC, etc.

While testing this weekend on the 500 we had the unit too close to the top belt bearing and it cause the unit to give full forward elevator when the RPM got to a certain level. Almost caused a crash. We moved the sensor back and it solved it.

Depends on what heli.

On the T-rex 450, inside the frames in the back.
On the beam its not possible to put inside the frames, so I guess underneath the frame, if I crash it, I better put it in head first else it will be expensive...

I tried to mount the SK inside the back of the Mini Titan frame, but the couple tenths of a millimeter clearance to the sides was just too tight... The weight of the cables would cause the 3M tape to "sag" enough to cause contact with the frame.

Now the SK is in top... At least I don't have to worry about a flybar strike...

After reading Bob's post above, I think I experienced the same thing (was right below belt drive assembly), but full back elevator (on a warm day). Sure made my cheeks pucker...

Try to fly in setup mode and you'll understand what I mean... (No, don't actually try, it's ugly!!!)

So to clarify, the SK360 unit does NOT have to be directly under the main shaft?

NO! It does not.

Its the same as your tail gyro ,it measures and counteract angular movement and the angle will be the same close to the center and a few miles away .
