My new $85 fiberglass canopy is already cracking.

I was installing the rubber rings into the canopy and 2 cracks started around the hole.

Is there anything I can do to prevent those cracks from growing?
Maybe some CA or 5 min epoxy?

Man - these canopies are expensive and fragile.

Yes medium CA and Fiberglass Cloth.

you can go to a car parts store (autozone or such) and get a fiberglass repair kit for about 14 bucks and just put another layer on the inside of the canopy. I usually do this to my new canopies around those holes and around the bottom of the canopy where it tucks under the skids for extra support.

Epoxy will work as a temporary solution though

I had the same thing.
God, I hate these canopies, they crack and are ugly. What are the alternatives?

I see my mates new Logo kit has a much thicker canopy than mine from the original batch, would maybe be 50% thicker than mine, feels like a real fibreglass canopy. Saying that i'm still running my original even after 2 crashes, one BIG and one no so bad, its got a little tear down near the bottom where it sits against the skids and apart from that it still looks mint. No problem around the grommet holes, never re-inforced it and its been clipped on and off hundreds of times! :dontknow

Klinger, my FG Logo 600 canopy is fantastic and is very strong, it's the 500 FG canopy that's too weak.

I haven't had a cracked hole (canopy) since I swapped to Align T600 canopy grommets.

Boy it's a good thing you didn't leave the word "grommets" off that sentence!

I use a small microbrush and apply Parkers "Super O' Lube" which is an Oring conditioner once to the Grommets and they go on easily for the life of canopy. No struggling, cracking or any of that....If you are struggling with something, simply take a second and think of what you can do to make it easier next time around, this saves wrecking stuff on any part of any heli, just my .02 on the matter.

I think with some mods a T-rex 500 canopy would fit? Keep in mind though, the Logo might take offense to this and decide to fly away from home back to Germany..... it would be like making a die hard sports fan wear another teams jersey.

A trex 500 canopy would be awfully small on a Logo500.

Trex500 canopy awful on the Logo, true..

Hey on the 500 canopies do you guys join the rear portion together (where it meets behind the rotor head). Mine doesn't match up too well at the seam and I'm thinking about making a small velcro tab to join it together.

Anybody do something like that? Have better ideas?

My 600 canopy meets up really well, but not so well on the 500. I just haven't done anything with it.

I'm actually tempted to notch it somehow as the edges touch the big cable that runs from the V-Bar to its gyro...

In my kit was a white Velcro tape included - just to hold the back of the canopy! Was it missing in your kit? A black Velcro shoul also be in, to secure the Lipo...

I will have to take a look to see, I didn't notice any white velcro. Not a big deal I have plenty. Was that in the manual? I didn't notice it.

You are right - could not find it in the manual (have only a german one, but don't think it makes any difference!) The black velcro you can find on page 16, section 8!

Yeah I posted T-rex 500 canopy. Sorry. That would be crap. I meant T-rex 600 but that's no better. Just forget the whole embarrassing incident OK guys? I posted it when I was half asleep.

I use the white Velcro on the back of the 500 but it isn't really necessary
