I am in the market for a TREX 500 - what seems to be the best all around 3D setup,
-Motor/Pinion
-ESC
-Servos
-Gyro/Servo
-Main Blades
-Tail Blades
Has the static issue with the belt been resolved - is silicon the fix, or grounding as well. although, isn't a torque tube coming out?
Any suggestions on setup would be great,
Thanks,
Jeff

I swear we need a sticky on this question... It comes up every 3-4 days... Sorry Buster but it's a fact... Look back about 3-4 pages in posts and you will see it...
Anyway here we go again :DOH
Motor pinion.... Well STOCK motor and 13T pinion
ESC... Again STOCK ESC... You cant get a kit today without the motor and ESC!
I am skipping servos for now.
Gyro.... CRAP... MANY to choose from. The old 401 works GREAT on this heli man! I prefer the 9257 servo on this heli with a 5.1V drop down as the Align ESC can be set for 6V output which is what I prefer.
Main baldes... GO ALIGN... Until the new V-blades are available NOT much other choice in my opinion! OH and most kits come with blades...
Tail blades... K&B Dream Design tail blades for the 500 period! They are cheap and work great.... If you want to spend then the new CF blades from align. Again not many other choices!
Servos... Well damn... I have typed this up about 1000 times!
The Hitec hs5245MG servos were what most used but we found in a crash the case broke. NOW Hitec has since redesigned the case so it doesn't break. Only problem is... You cant tell when you buy them if you have the old or the new version without taking them apart! Thus because of this case breaking issue with these, others go with the JR 3650 servo. Same as the 3400G but with metal gears.
If you don;t care about gears stripping in a crash then go 9650 or even 9257!

As for this question... read the 2 stickies above! Too much to cover here!

Well to add and this is NO BS.... BEST POWER I have seen yet in the 500 is Fireup's heli.
Stock ESC with a Scorpin 1400KV motor... I have YET to see anything even touch that setup and Matt Botos few it at B-ham and could not agree more!

Stock setup (motor, controller) works great. Tons of power imo.
No need to shell out more money.

Thanks Guys - sorry for the repeat questions, but I didn't see a sticky above referencing it. Appreciate all the great information - I know it took a lot of time and effort to find the what works the best and in the end, that saves me money.
Thanks again,
Jeff

Hey hasn't had a problem yet but a crash last weekend did cause him to smoke his first motor as he didn't hit hold fast enough.

Is there a BEC in the Align ESC and is it sufficient or do I need to install an external BEC?
Thanks,
Jeff
