Hi,
Just assembelling a standard R90 and I am having problem aligning the main gear on the main shaft.
The collar that goes just under the top brng is pressing hard against it and the top brng will not fit.
The problem is that the main gear cannot go down further as it is resting on the drive pinnion. The top brng does not fit bcoz the collar is not letting it sit in its place. There is a difference of about less than 2mm.
I am sure I have assembeled it right and have rechecked.
Any sugesstions.
Thanks
Rajeev

Rajeev,
I just finished my Raptor 90 3D just over a week ago. I would suggest downloading the Raptor 90 3D manual because is has a little more info in terms of the main shaft installation than your Raptor 90 Standard manual. The only difference in the bearings is that the 3D has a metal bearing hub and the standard has a bearing incased in a plastic hub.
This is just a suggestion, have you tried installing the shaft the other way? maybe there's more room on the other end which fits better?

rajeev,
The bearing blocks ( both upper and lower ) have a flat side and a side with a raised ring.
Top bearing; the raised ring goes on the top side. ( faceing upward )
Lower bearing block; the raised ring goes on the bottom side, (faceing downward)
Also the shaft has to be installed a certain way, as hanale pointed out.
Hope this is of some small help.

Hi Guys,
What you are mentioning about the brngs is exactly as per the manual. I have tried it and it does not fit. I fiddled around with the main shaft reversing the direction but still the same problem.

FYI
I think the top plastic bearing block and top metal one may use different sized bearings (OD)
Could the main gear be installed wrong on the hub? I assume you mean the maingear is bottoming out on the clutch bell face next to the pinion teeth..

Check that you have the bearing block for the starter/clutch bell strait. It might be at an angle I did that last time I installed it and It took a little work to get it strait.

Rajeev,
Here's an idea which the manual kind of talks about! Try to loosen all the screws that hold the upper frame assembly together and all the screws that hold the lower frame assembly together. Next loosen the screws that hold the upper and lower frame assembly to each other. Try to install the main gear assembly to the main shaft. This may just give you that 2mm your missing. There is a little play for each screw that holds the Heli frame together which may give you the space you need for your main gear assembly.
The reason I loosen all the screws is because if you just loosen the bearing screws the other screws surrounding the bearing is still pinching the bearing enough so it still won't move as you would expect it too.

Just remove the jesus bolt from the main gears. Then you can slide the shaft down through the lower bearing. Bringing the shaft down slightly allows you to get to the hole in the mainshaft much easier for installing the collar. Once the collar is installed, slide the shaft back up to its normal position and install the lower jesus bolt.
