OK, so I have registered the domain www.beltcp.co.uk (http://www.beltcp.co.uk) and have put a really poor looking site up for the moment.

I want to get the site up properly with a how-to/guides section, video section and shop. The intention is that the shop will sell all the upgrades that are worth doing but difficult to source in the UK. There are a few up already, any suggestions for other items to stock would be helpful.

So, does anyone here know of a) someone who could help me do this cheaply with a proper shopping cart etc. or b) know of any software that could allow me to do it well?

Thanks

Gerd

quickest and easiest is to use the Paypal shopping cart system.

What a good idea Gerd. Like the idea. Finally 1 shop that sells all instead of dredging the net:)

If there is anything I can do to help (Appart from web design:YeaBaby:) I would love to oblige.

Yep, thats what I am doing but want to be able to calculate postage based on weight which the Paypal shopping cart doesn't do. Currently I am having to list all parts inclusive of P&P. But this is not so good for the customer if buying multiple items.

Thanks Andy! Let me know of any other parts worth stocking and I will get some and put them up. I am not planning stocking any of the stock Esky parts, would rather keep to the upgrades that we use.

Currently trying to find somewhere I can buy 10 or 20 TowerPro servos at a reasonable price so that I can put them up.

Dierwolf, where do you get your SG90's from?

just a quick note - frames can cause problems with some browsers. try and do everything in CSS or tables if you can as it makes evereything easier to control or change.
What authoring package are you using?

You should catogarize your items i.e 'spares, upgrades' etc. And make it more clear that all the parts you sell will definatly fit the belt cp.

Try and get a new page to open when clicking on an item (Like on heliguy) So you can give a description and specifications of the items on seperate pages etc. Lets say.. I am scrolling through the list of items and I see one I want, when I click on it I should get a page with information about the item and specifications etc.

Also make sure you describe the items well. I hate it when an item is not properly described and I don't know for example how many teeth there are on a main gear when I want to buy one. Explain everything like that.

Hope this help you a little

Oh and something I would like to ask you about is those batteries you have in stock. When you say they only need a 30 minute charge is that with the stock esky charger? If so then im definatly buying one.

I build websites, but if i did volunteer my time it wouldn't be a super fast build as i'm rather busy with work related things right now, but I've got no problem helping out. if you're interested email me at jksteelehu@gmail.com

@Johnnyheli -- Thanks for the feedback all very valid points which I will try and integrate into the new site, exactly the kind of feedback I need. With regards to the batteries, you can only charge in 30 minutes with a charger that can charge at 4.2A (2C). The esky is 0.8A so will take around 3+hours.

@jksteelehu -- Thank you very much for the offer of help, once I start working on the site I may well be bugging you with my silly questions and for help.

Ok no prob, I will let you know if I see anything else you could improve on... I thought it was to good to be true about the charge time:( good price tho! I may still buy a few. But not any time soon! I crashed my belt cp today lol. It was funny. Once I got over how funny it was I then realised that I would have to start making orders from the internet.

I will take another look at your website again and see if theres anything there that will help me repair my CP:(

Good luck with it!

No need to put the Align shafts on, the stainless esky ones I got from maxdiypower (who you recommended) are similar quality and are 100% the right size so fit all the way into the bottom bearing, but as you say my Align is still the 1st I put in, even after my 30ft nose dive it still stayed straight!

Just looked at the pics of those shafts..... not the same quality at all..

Align SS Shafts you can brush your hair in, their that smooth and shiny.

Maybe the pics don't do them justice, the 40 I have here are smooth and shiny and look very similar to the align ones except they are the right length. The main thing for me is I have always been slightly concerned about how the align only just go into the bottom bearing whereas these fit perfectly. Horses for courses though I guess.

I may stock the align also but hardly worth it unless I can get a good price for them, I want to be able to sell alternative items at a better price than other places. Have got 20 helimax gears, 15 sets of align 315's and 5 of align 325's (both the pros) on the way with some trueblood dampers also. Once these arrive I will put them up with a better price than most UK stockists are offering.

Ian,

To be honest I don't know that much about the different chargers, although I know the Bantam BC6 is meant to be excellent (around £100). I personally use the Imax B6, which for the money is a great little charger (around £50 delivered from HK with a dual charging lead so you can charge 2 batteries simultaneously!). I am in the process of trying to buy a bulk load of these too (along with some Esmart 600's :)) but that will be a little while before I finalise the deal.

May also be getting some 2.4Ghz Futaba and Spektrum TX/RX combo sets at a very good price.

How are you getting along with bulk pricing? would hate to see you go thru all this trouble and expense and not see some profit.

But then again like Heliguy you can always slap that big old pound sign in front of the dollar sign LOL.... seems everyone in the UK is used to it anyways.

Wolfie,

I bought 50 batteries from HK, sold 42 and achieved breakeven.

With regards to the rest, once I get the proper website/shopping cart sorted I will be making a small profit on each around 12-15% generally. To be honest, I am not too worried about making money on it, I was more interested in helping some of the other UK folk out with getting the parts which are hard to get in UK cheaper than they can elsewhere, obviously that being said I want to at least break even!!
