hi,

i'm very new to nitro helis. i have been given a raptor 30 v1 looks in really good condition.

i just want to know when the throttle stick is at the lowest point on the transmitter. where should the linkage be on the engine.

the reason i ask is that i tried starting it and had a hot start...it screamed....

the stick was at the lowest point, the linkage on the engine was pointing straight down.

i'm just wondering what is the correct setup for starting

thanks alot and be gentle

Z:)

zetex,
Here are some things to check.
First you have to be sure that your servo is moveing in the correct direction.
( high stick = carb. full open= full power )
( mid stick= carb. half open = 50% power )
( low stick = carb. closed = engine off )
If moveing the stick produces the opposite of above then you will need to "reverse" your servo in the radio.
To get the engine to an idle. go into the throttle curve menu which should have 5 points.
(L=low or #1),# 2,# 3.# 4, (# 5 or H = high). At point #1(L) adjust the value up (in most cases) until you get a reliable idle ( example 5 to 15 ). Also the throttle end points must be
"100" at low and "100" at high.( This depends on the radio in use )
Initially, the beginner throttle curve would be L=10 (adjustable),#2=25,#3=50,#4=75,#5=100 in the normal flight mode.
Second it could be that you hot started in an idle up mode where low stick is 100% throttle.
Third check out the "raptortechnique"and "littlerotors" web sites. Lots of valuable information there.
Also "Ron's Heliproz South" has a link that gives excellent instructions on throttle set-up
and geometry.
What radio are you useing?
Hope this might get you in the air.

hi mate

thanks alot for the info, this is my first nitro. i have been flying electric helis for 12 months. i know not long...

the radio i'am using is a DX7 and a AR7000 reciever.

i will have a good look at the websites you suggested. once i have got the basic setup with idle i should be fine from there.

thanks alot

Z:)
