you Might getaway with 20c but i think it will still be on the edge.
Take a flight and check temps every couple of minutes....I cooked a couple of 18c packs. on the stock motor.

20C packs aren't worth the savings or risk. Go with 25C or more and fly without worries. ;)

They aren't 3000's, but at only 215g, these aren't a bad deal:
http://www.readyheli.com/Thunder_Power_eXtreme_V2_25C_2600_3S1P_TP_Battery_ p/tp2600-3sxv.htm
At this price, I've got to try these in the hurris.. and will also get a few of their other smaller 1500 and 1800 packs for my other helis:

And if money is no object, these would be perfect:

I have about 10 flights on 2200 Hextronics and about 4 flights on 3300 20c -30c zippy h's.
I'm using a Z20 -980 with 14t pin 20 OWb and stock 1st and main gears..
The 2200's give me 5 -6 mins of good hard flying....and the 3300 give me about 7-8 mins.
I recently lowered my Hs in Norm to about 1800 and got a really nice 12 mins out of the 3300's putting back 2650 mah. I wasn't screaming around and it was good for nose in practice. IU1 goes up to 21-2200 rpms and down to the 7 min..
So far all cells charge to max...and are balanced within .01v...
I'm very happy with them so far...if they have same longevity as my Polyquest then they are well worth the price.
I know there are no "free lunches" but these seem OK. Not sure how they would hold up under a bigger load than the Z20.
chart is for the 3300's 12 min flight
Funny how the RPM's drop whenever I change to IU or stop and restart....I'm using Gov mode with Gaui 50amp...so i guess it uses the avail voltage to govern the HS. It sems If I were not to change HS's it would try to maintain the same rpm. ?? You can se where I momentarily hit IU then when i came back the RPM's were lower than when i started....guess it's KV times volatage at the time.

I don't have the zippy's yet.. but I do have the Hextronic brand (also sold by hobby city).. those have a LOT of power... as far as charging amp.. not sure how high you can go, I charge at 1amp.. it takes longer but easier on the batteries

well if their 30c-40c then they should hold up great lol... how hot do they get from the z20?

It seems nothing gets hot with the Z20......motor stays cool...and my lipos maybe get a little warm...but I have never had a hot battery using the Z20.
if the new Scorpions are as efficient....they will be a great motor.

yea im going to get the scorpion 90amp esc to run on the rcp 1100kv motor until i hear some more news about the scorpions motors... i think im going to order some of those 3500s and see how they work out

i have a pair of the FP evo30 3200's, and all i can say is WOW! great packs and they seem pretty light for what they are. with my z20a and a 14t pinion, flat 95% curve i can get 10 minutes, putting just over 2600mah back in the pack. that's a c-hair above 80%, but i'll chance it.

ok well heres my plan... im gonna buy the scorpion 90amp esc... try out some different things like timing ect... get the zippy 3500s and try those... which balancing connector does this have? i use blinkies so would that need a adaptor or not? also does anybody know where i can buy deans connectors for cheap my lhs carries then 2 male and 2 female for 5 bucks

Make sure the 3500's aren't going to be too heavy.. and that they will fit.

i emailed readyheli about the scorpion motors and they said none of them are for 3d... and to get either then century 600 or gaui 1100kv... weird huh

Yeah, that's very weird.

does anybody know the efficiency of the century 600... im thinking about either getting that or the z30. and the z30 is 90% max efficiency which is pretty high

04-27-2008, 02:38 PM
i believe the century 600 1100kv is about the same thing as a z30. someone please correct me if i'm wrong on that.

Well I guess they tested them and they were not what they were made out to be....dissapointing after all the :bs
It kind of goes along with the that have reported in on the Scorpion thread.
Glad I didn't run out and buy one right away...the Z20 so far is the clear winner for begginers to mild areobatics.

Yup, the z20 is a fine motor, although i wish it had just 15% or more power :)
I just hope that we don't see readyheli selling the scorpion motors in some 3-D kit over the next few months heheh. :)

. :)
I'm with you...maybe 20 % would be better but I'll settle for 15.
I'm afraid a Z30 would be too much on my smaller lipos.....but I may have to get one for my CF 550 which is just sitting under my desk waiting to go into service. I have ALL the metal bling bling for it but I'm going to be patient and keep flying the plastic till i have lots of hours behind the sticks.

The z30 will suck the power from the battery fast if not managed/controlled. Have you tried a z30, 13T, with backed down throttle curves with the 60T instead of the 61T, with a new 19T owb? The z30 doesn't have to be as brutal as most fly it. I have had some great flight times with it dialed down and the torque is there when you need it. I am not running the 2100 TP's on it mind you, still the 2200 KP's.. so the TP's or others might not hold up. Anyway, just a thought.
