I was told by the good people at Hobby Hangar (thanks Lee) that I could put an Align head on my Blade 400. I had just obliterated my blade head, so I figured why not?

I had to grind a couple of millimeters off of the top of the blade shaft to get the Align head to fit and that was no problem.

I came to a little problem with the anti-rotation pin being on the wrong side of the swashplate, though. Here are a few pics of my solution. I designed and fabricated this plastic piece to locate an anti-rotation guide 180 degrees around the swashplate. It works great and the align head is so smooth in comparison to the stock head.

Take the Sticker off your motor. That is a bad thing waiting to happen.

I got my Blade400 because I do not like the Trex Head :). But that is why this is a hobby. You get to do what makes you happy :)

Well take whats left of that sticker off your motor, looks like you have already lost part of it!

I modeled the part in SolidWorks and created it on a 3D printer out of an ABS plastic blend. If enough people are interested, I'll look into manufacturing a batch of these.

...and i've got the sticker off the motor now. thanks

Very interesting, I was wondering how you made it - you have access to that sort of gear? or have that sort of gear at home? Or an understanding boss... :)

I modeled it at home and have access to prototyping equipment at work ...and I have a very kind boss :)
