would you recomend putting spektrum 821 servos on a trex 600 nitro ? I have seen in two place where they recomend aginst it becuase they dont hold up and last very long.I have around 10 hours on my new rex600 and I am having problems with my thorotle servo.
These are the servos that came on the heli when I bought it new .:thinking

no for nitro.
not a good choice for the 600e
need longer servo screws to keep the splines from breaking off.
the vibration of the nitro heli kills them.
I sold mine to an airplane guy in my club. About $20 each is what they typically fetch.
Take that money and add a bit and get some proven servo's. This will save you rheli and pay for the upgrade in servo's by avoiding 1 crash.

Don't do it. The cost of a crash will exceede the cost of decent servos
New Guidelines for DS821 Servo Use
Tuesday, February 20, 2007
The DS821 servo is a powerful, accurate sport digital servo recommended for RC airplane applications up to 1.20-size. For helicopters, the DS821 operates best with 30-size glow models, and up to 50-size electric. Loads and vibration in larger models may cause premature failure of the servo resulting in damage or injury to property and persons.
Important: Do not use liquid thread lock with the DS821 servo!
Do not use any form of liquid thread lock to secure the servo arm screw to the output shaft of the DS821 servo. Chemicals in these liquids react with the polycarbonate gear set causing the plastic to become brittle, fracturing the final output gear.

:noteworthyThank you guys you just proved my point . Yes it was the thorotle servo that has started freaking out.I am going to nail the hobby shop that built this heli and make them replace my servos . WHy is it that in this hobby.Every one every where is so ready to empty your pockect and give you crap....This heli even had the head come of the engine in mid flight once on the 3 rd gallon of nitro. Piss poor workmanship and no pride
( I guess the Bottom line is Tear it apart and rebuild it once you get home) in the construction of a DANGEROUS ,Expensive Flying Model....( Don't Trust the Mechanical abilities of any one but BoB the Finless one)....I mean alot of hobby shops KNoW Exactly what they are or NoT saling you and if you are a newbie take some one shopping with you whom knows what up and whats out there and what you need, Can't beat experience.
SO Why would A hobby shop that has been around for ever Built a Trex Nitro pro
and Install shity less than proper Servos on the heli and then Sale it ?
Is this not theri fault? And if your (Tail pitch slider Brass Collar Unscrews its self during FLight) ( Beacuse of Bad Desgin)- Hence it has right handed threads-And it NEEDS Left handed or reversed threads to cure the Design Fault) and you heli piroetts into the ground.:arggg::arggg::arggg: WOuld that Not be the fault of Align and they should be forced to pay for our repairs due to a Mechanical failure not of your Making:smokin::smokin::smokin::smokin::smokin: USE LOCTITE gignerly and sparingly,DO n't gob it on, it will get into the Bearings:hug::hug::hug::hug: We all think that just Plain Old SUCKS

The tail pitch slider issue isn't unusual and doesn't happen if its properly assembled.

As I said I did not do the inital asy. of this model. But now that I know its a issue .I will always use loctite on it.just a spot on the threads inside the pitch slider :YeaBaby:

Tough to say if a ready assembled heli is a good option.
Learning how to fly these things takes time , and patience. Assembly and repairs are a vital role in the learning process.
Myself i build all my own machines to my standards , but take the time to read the forums and see what i should be paying attention to. I find the information i find on the forums is time well spent (repair costs).
All part of the hobby IMO.
You wouldn't last long before finding a thread on servo's. And many other handy tips
I got 126 flights on my 450v2 before i had a servo failure, 1st mechanical failure on that bird.
I will admit the dx7's targeted customer base my or may not need those servo's. I'd think the H heli version should be packed with a different servo. Heli hardware , H radio , heck , heli rx pack, and not reccomended for a 50 sized heli servo's ?? Granted there's smaller helis out there but the 50 class is extremely popular. I sold mine to my friend for his plane and bought 9451's

:shock:I know but it was all a bit after the fact ,I was not aware of the the tech note from the JR Spektrum web site till after my last crash yesterday ... I was only aware that some one said" they had heard" the same thing stating they were" not the best choice" for a 600 ,No One said Hey Tim DO NOT FLY it at ALL !!
And GUY from the Hobby shop who Built the Heli Said ( Quote -- I BUild heli's at this shop all the time,I use these servos on 500 and 600 trex's and they work Just Fine .. Un Quote) I a refraning from using any Names or Hobby shop names ,Because the owners is a friend and very nice person .I am not slamming any one here .Except maybe his Helishop mechanic .
So I asked around,,, Every answer I got was just talk and advice , NOTHING Solid, No One said Hey No These Do not work, NO ONE Said The JR website says ,They are fine for a 600 Electric But Not Nitro ...........I discovered this after the fact yesterday evening .The fact is they should have never been installed on a Nitro helicopter, Especialy from some one whom claims to KNow what they are doing. That is what makes it bad for me .Now do you understand why I feel this way :smokin: WHy did they let me walk out of the store so poorly equiped that is a good question. ANd don't tel that way you come back to buy some more stuff ,Because that would just be flat assed irresponsible .Especially when you are talking about a Flying Arm Chopper offer:shock:

We'll if you found out after the crash then I spose it's just a lesson learned the hard way. =/ Personally I'd be pretty miffed too if somebody sold me something put together in a way that was not in line with the manufacturer's instructions.
Just glad the hobby shop is going to take care of the issue.

The hobby shop :hug:is going to help:thumbup:get me back to where I can fly again so its all good:noteworthy:lolol .I just keep finding my self in life as not only a vehicle of my own learning but as a good example to others as well. I am just glad I have some place like this like heli freak to come learn and to share so others can learn from my newbie mistake:wow2: That is where I guess all this ,Fun ,Learning and Mutual respect and friendship comes in at.........Oh By the way I fly in slymar off maclay at a local flood wash down south way in So cal we all know about.
