View Full Version : Tail swing on inverted hover?

Here is a real question for the local V-bar gurus:

I am getting more brave with the vbar and decided to flip the bird over yesterday. In right side up hover, it is solid and there is no drift on the tail. When I flip the heli over and hover inverted, the heli rotates slowly counter-clockwise. I cant for the life of me figure out why this is. Any one here have any insight as to why this is happening?

The vbar has a VERY touchy tail...that being said, are you SURE that you are not giving any rudder input. I ask this because you say...

...just want to be sure that your nerves aren't working against you here and causing you to get false results. Try adding 20% expo to your tail and see if it helps first.

Positive... I tried several times and even took my hand off the left stick. The heli continued to rotate every time.

And you're in same flight mode each time ? rudder trim can be specific for normal, idle1/2 or common. Maybe it's the Coriolis effect ;)

Eyefly, my friend has the same problem since he changed from a 9254 servo to a BLS251. The tail just wouldn't hold with the 9254, upright or inverted. Now with the servo swap, it holds upright but not inverted. It drifts in the manner you speak of. He has the 500 while I have the 600. I don't have a tail problem, YET, Both of us have done the sensor calibration in an upright position. I believe we are talking about the Pirouette correction here. Seems to me what are trying to achieve with this calibration, is to align the sensor to the main shaft. So I don't see a need to to do it inverted. Chandler from Espirit Models had me set it up this way.
My buddy is at his wits end. There just doesn't seem to be much info out there if you have a problem with the Vbar. It seems to be hit or miss. Hopefully someone has an answer.

Do you have the Noise Elimination selected ON in the Overview as this has an effect on tail drift
