hi everyone,

I made up a nice HeadSpeed Calculator for our convenience.
You can downloaded for free and any suggestion for making it better are welcomed.
I hope you find it usefull.

I would change the input for the motor. it currently says motor rpm, it should says motor Kv. or even have either a drop down or radio button selection for the most popular motors as well as a other selections that has a entry box for the ones not listed. also, that is the efficiency set for on this head speed calc? 85%, 90%, 95%, 100%??

Top stuff - Nice work...

Can you make it default to the STD kit settings - ie: std gears and motor ?

Very nicely done!

Only one Thing. I am using Revco Gears and the have a 68T first gear and Pinons from 18T to 26T.
Do you think you could incorporate that????

Greetings from sunny Germany

Mysticmead you are right.
I will also add an efficiency input.
Thanks for your idea on making it better.

Jockstrap, it starts with the default settings (61T , 19T) and (42T , 14T) so you just enter the default kv of the Gaui motor.

Thanks for your ideas.
I already started updating it.

Pretty cool! I calculated everything before in OpenOffice. One thing I don't really understand is why you have a 60T as front gear? Shouldn't this be 61T too?
Something that would be really nice is a 12T pinion!

Gaui has released two new gears
the #204621 Front Main Gear(50T)
and #204622 Front Main Gear(60T)

I will add the 12T pinion too within the next release.

Cheers

Errr.. I hate to seem ungrateful or paranoid but

- Hobbyworld GR has a total of 6 posts on this forum - ALL IN THIS THREAD
- the headspeed calculator is an EXECUTABLE with a DLL!

If I were going to seed a virus - or some malicious code - then this would be a great way to do it.

I scanned it before extracting the files.... it's clean

Yeah me too... we're infected by a virus. But this doesn't come from this head speed calculator. The head speed calculator just helps finding the right way to let this virus out :)
Anyway, no one is forced to use this little program! I like it and hope Hobbyworld GR doesn't take paranoia personally... I wouldn't trust anything found on an internet site, but come on... this was posted on Helifreak and there are already a few who used it...

Sorry but a virus scanner will not pick up malware, Spyware, adware etc which is NEW or has not been reported.

An executable is an executable - unless there is a recognised pattern in it for detection software to latch onto it will go undetected.

I could be completely over-reacting here (apologies to Hobbyworld GR if I am) but the first post from this subscriber advertises a link to an EXE?...

you're correct.. a virus scanner alone won't detect malware, or adware. however, scanning with 2 different virus scanners as well as 3 different spyware scanners and a trojan specific scanner, I feel pretty safe in using the application. While it may be some kind of new virus or malware/adware, they all share common coding that can be detected. very few are so new that they can't be detected unless there's a specific entry for it in teh software. even with those few, most are trojans and I have scanners for those as well :D. not to mention, I'm running it in Linux in a windows emulation..not much it can do IF it were infected. but like I said, I found nothing but a very useful tool.

yes, it does seem strange that the first post by this member was for this program, maybe they didn't have much to say until they got this working.
