I think limiter is a better option for hover mode than full governor, because it alows a smooth throttle curve until you reach set maximum rpm and the holds it there.
Full governor mode follows your throttle curve only until 30 percent throttle and then suddenly will kick in to increase your rpm to set rpm., It wont feel as smooth. It wont be smooth going down either, as the throttle will suddenly cut when the throttle curve gets down to 30 percent or less.
I think you guys have a point.
To sum up what you guys mentioned, during the break in period, i have to turn off gov in normal mode and run it with a 0-40-60 throttle curve? And after a couple of tanks run in and tuning, I'll go with limiter in normal mode and full gov in Idle 1 & 2, is this right?

I just got a Multigov and ran it for the first time today (ran the Heli for the first time too). How are you guys setting limiter mode for normal and full gov for idles? I have the radio set to allow different speeds for different modes, and I can see the # change when I toggle the modes. I assume this is full gov mode. In the advanced menu, I see the "3D-ThCurvLmt" setting that says it acts as a rev limiter, but it just has a single On/Off value that does not change with flight modes... So if it is set to limit, it is that way for all modes. How do I have it set to limit for one mode and full gov for another?
Is there another limiter only option that I missed?
Confused...

All the number changing means when you change modes is that you're flipping between the three settings on the Multigov. Each setting is fully configurable, i.e. you can set it to limiting/governing and set the RPM. Just ignore the Advanced menu for now; I've never touched the Advanced settings. Limiting is indicated by "OVSP" in the display and full governing is indicated by "FULL" in the display. To toggle between FULL and OVSP, just press the VAL+ and VAL- buttons at the same time. Use the VAL+ and VAL- buttons, one at a time, to change the RPM. If you want to disable governing in any mode for some reason, just drop the RPM below 500; the display will then show "OFF" for that mode.
I have mine set up for 1800-OVSP in Normal mode, 1900-FULL in ST-1, and 2000-FULL in ST-2. I'm only doing sport flying, so I don't need insane RPM.

I got the new Multigov Pro, and I see no option for "FULL" or "OVSP" in the LCD or the instructions. The only mention of RPM limiting is in the advanced setting. The two gov modes I see are "STD" and "3D", and the description of each is.... STD mode is for smooth flying, and 3D is for aggressive aerobatic flight. No mention is made of how they actually differ.

They don't have a manual posted online yet; otherwise, I might be able to interpolate the meaning of the STD and 3D settings. According to the FAQ on the Aerospire website, limiting mode is only available in the 3D setting.

That was one of my mistakes... I had normal set to 1800 std, and idle1 set to 1800 3d (why? that was the default, I just dropped the idle1 to 1800). I then set the limiter on in the advanced menu assuming it would limit everything. Only after realizing that my last flight was governed, not limited did I go back and see in the manual that the limit was for 3d mode only.
I guess I'll just write Aerospire asking to explain the difference. My last post quotes the only reference to STD and 3D in the whole manual... doesn't say much, but the way you toggle from STD to 3D is the same way you toggled from Full to OVSP in the older multigov +val AND -Val at the same time.
I just hope I didn't harm the engine by running the second tank in full gov mode ... I'm sure its fine...

I can't see how it would hurt the engine unless you had your needle too lean. It might take you a little longer to complete the break-in process.

I'm thinking it was likely too lean (for break-in). It was running very strong... I expected it to be a bit sluggish on break-in. I'll open the needle up more for the next 2 or 3 tanks (I've only run 3 flights totaling 2 tanks so far).

Just because the helicopter performed strong (I assume "well") because you had the governor on during break-in won't cause your motor to have run too lean because the governor only controls the throttle. Assuming you had your needle settings around or beyond the factory recommended initial needle settings, there won't be any problems.
