hey guys,
i dropped my DX6i, it still works. but now the antenna can rotate 360 degrees. It used to only be able to rotate 180 degress, is the this bad, do any of yours do this?

If it still works it's probably ok, should be easy to fix. This is the exact reason I always use a neckstrap.

i do use a neck strap, i unfortunately dropped it while it was strapping it to my neck strap. everything works ok, i already went flying again and nothing seems different. just by looking at it, if i hadnt told you i dropped it, you wouldnt be able to tell.

the part of the antenna that bends now rotates 360 degrees, i know before i dropped the TX, that part only rotated 180 degrees. after inspecting i cant see anything wrong and it still works perfect.

Is this something that i should be worried about?

Use the range test function and see how it goes.

I would make sure yuu make it so it does not rotate, if it goes round and round it will pull the antenna wire off the circuit board, then youll not be flying at all.

Obviously it is working, but me personally, I would repair that by getting a replacement as soon as I could. I would hate myself if I crashed due the antenna and knew I could have prevented the crash.

unfortunately for me, too late. i crashed today due to a signal loss. it was pretty bad. the heli even flew into my girlfriend! (shes okay, just a bruise on her leg). i think im going to call horizon tomorrow and see if they can fix it, or i might just go buy a new one (they are so cheap, and i love this Tx). either way i'm going to have to pay because it isn't a defect, it was my stupidity that broke it.

( after the crash, i tried range checking it and i could get more than 3 feet away before it lost signal, a LOT less than 30-90 paces!)

Consider yourself lucky, it could have just as easily gotten her in the head.

Don't fly with equipment that you know or suspect is defective, the risks aren't worth it.

Don't know this as a fact but I have heard of people buying a new antenna for a cx2 radio from their LHS and its suppose to work perfect.

i didnt know it was defective until it was too late :-( (luckily she wasnt too mad at me because it was true mechanical failure and not my fault, if it was my fault all hell would have broken loose)

i popped open the case and the antenna had come un-soldered from the circuit board, i re-soldered it, but it still wouldnt range check for more than a few feet at best. this is a Tx problem right? is there any possiblity it could be a Rx problem (although i doubt it, because before the crash, the heli has not been crashed in over 2 months, and the 1 and only crash its ever has wasnt bad at all)

Im going with TX problem. Most likely the antenna is coaxial, and you would have to solder just the signal wire andd you somehow probably soldered the shield too.

I was looking at mine last night (as I rewired the charger socket) - the antenna is connected to the postage stamp sized board in the middle of the tx by a little gold plug and socket - and yes, carlo is right, it is a coaxial socket. If the wire just popped off the plug (not hard to flip off with a fingernail) then it should just clip back on. If the socket has come off the board then you are stuffed I would say.

when you say coaxial and you say solder just the signal wire, what do you mean? the wire just popped out, the gold part of the connector is still attached to the circuit board. should i just expose some of the bare wire and solder it to the gold part? i bought a replacement antenna for a CX2 controller and it's a perfect fit. i'm going to try to solder that part to the gold connector on the circuit board and see what happens.

The wire is a piece of coaxial cable - coaxial cable is two wires, one in the centre, wrapped in insulation, then another wrapped around the outside, followed by another layer of insulation.

Unfortunatley it is not just a simple case of soldering it back on at this size. If the wire has pulled out of the gold connector then the whole antenna will need to be replaced (as it is a one peice manufacture).
