Dunno what the aces think, but i use a bit of 3-in-1 on the main gear/pinion, and that's about it. Maybe blow the tail and main rotor wothe WD40.....

Hi Jamie

You need to lube all the bearings and links (nothing in the servo's though) you neede to use sillicone lubricant without any mineral oil in it, the mineral oil attacks some of the plastic and ruber components in your heli

Go on Midland helicopters site and search for metal and plastic oil, You pay about £6.00 for a piddling little bottle of it but it comes with a long thin needle like dispenser so you can put a drop of it exactly where you want. I've got through about 2/3rds of a bottle in a 2 months so it's not bad.

Ive been putting off buying the silicon oil form midland as its the smallest bottle I have ever seen!

So I have been using sewing machine oil. Its a very fine oil and works well. Yes it may rott the plastic in time and hence when I can be bothered I will order some silicon. Placed about 6 seperate orders in a couple of days so cant be bothered at the moment.

Try to keep it off the tail belt Andy it will eat it

Also like I said total rippoff the little bottle of oil may be but £6.00 every 2 months is no as bad as damaging your heli and ruining your belts....

Have not put any there yet as they where thoughts as well. Just been lubing the shaft and bearings. Better than runing them dry as it made a nice squeeking noise the 3 weeks I had no oil on:DOH.

This is a good question from Jamie; I've thought about the lube situation before. Be interested what Wolfie and Mika think. Anyone found a decent lube to use?

No squeaking not good... that was your old head right ?

Also the ball linkages and every thing work better when they are lubed and the Midland Helicopter rippoff oil dispenser makes sure you don't get it allover yur heli and have to spend ages cleaning the stuck on dust from hard to get at bits:)

FMS aint as good as helisim

Get a dedicated sim TX Im sure you can get one for about £12. Or tell the supplier his lead don't work with the TX youv'e got and you need a sim to practise on, part of the reason you bought from him was because you thought you were getting a sim with the heli rant rage etc......

My Esky tx wouldnt really work with the lead supplied the supplier sent me a scrap 4ch esky tx which worked a bit better but still kept losing calibration. In the end I had to but the sim box wich works fine with both sims....

:thumbup::thumbup:

Also did you carefully check the main shaft by rolling it on a dead flat surface? I just checked out an old pack of brand new Esky main shafts which I had and not one of them was straight!

Make him send you a straight shaft if yours is bent at all better still upgrade to an Align one

I did check the shaft on a flat surface and not a sign of light passing under it in any place checked the cogs on the shaft and span them slow and fast and the top one is warped besides like you say if i need a new shaft in the future ill get the align carbon steel one dam i didnt think of that with the reciver:arggg: ha oh well he said keep him informed lol.

I've been using an oil I get at a sporting goods store. It's made for lubing fishing reels. It doesn't spin off, and it doesn't attack plastic fittings or monofiliment fishing line.

You can really feel the difference it makes when you use it on the bearings.

Whoops - don't know how I missed this thread. I have to be a rebel here and confess I occasionally use WD-40 for the belt. Silicone is good enough for lubrication, but WD-40 seems to keep it from acting like a Van der Graaf generator. That's a big plus in a CF boom, in a CF frame, with the receiver in close proximity...

I got a 300 ml (about 10 oz) can of silicone spray from the local gas station for about the price of the Midland bottle, but I'm sort of old school when it comes to lubrication so I really prefer a decent oil. The best I've found so far is CorrosionX - it sticks to metal like a magnet, lubricates better than Teflon, and doesn't attack plastic. If it's good enough for a $3,000 gun, it's good enough for a $300 helicopter.

Hmm... I wonder if that fishing reel oil turns out to be ReelX?

i use yoyo ball bearing lube. it seems to be working fine and since yoyo's are made out of plastic i'm sure it has nothing in it to hurt plastic

Ok found the thread.

I use 3 in 1 oil on all my Metal parts before each flight session.

For the Belt itself i dont use 3in1 or WD40... i use a product called LifeSpan Fitness Lubricant.

Its a lubricant they use to keep threadmill belts in good condition, its also a conditioner so it doesnt rott out.

comes in :

4 oz bottle for 15 bucks

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41EV9MXFB4L._SL500_AA280_.jpg

There is also another one for threadmills called Lube-n-Walk havent tried that one but thats 20 bucks.

Both are 100% Silicone and can be bought on Amazon.com

For those of you in the UK, get some Dragon's Fire Red Grease...... thats probably the best stuff you can use on the heli .... Its used on YOYO ball bearings and is 100% Teflon. Unfortuneately its only available thru Martin Ashfield Cycles in Wales at the moment.ycles in Wales

I bought some silicon shock oil for lubing with only about £3 for 50ml (recommended by a guy at my local club). I also have a little tube of silicone grease that I use for the bearings.
