Just installed new fasst ssytem on 9chps- 2nd time up and 600e got behind me a little and I gusees I am just used to looking over my shoulder to bring it back where I want it with the rgular 72mhz because I didnt turn and the motor shut off. It came down at angle over my left shoulder so I kind of ducked right. Just before it hit I think I heard it trying to spool back up but am not sure. Could this be the "line of sight" thing I read on the 2.4? I have yet to try to see if the motor will spool up. The frames are cracked, main and tail baldes broken, skids, both batteries puffed, canopy trashed and esc had the capaciters folded over. Before I rebuild- I am curious if this should be considered "normal" for the 2.4?
Thanks

I would say it is just a coindence that the motor cut off when you got it behind you. Line of sight refers to flying the model behind a building or even a tree maybe with heavy foilage on it. You body will not block the signal.

Oh,
do you have any picture of the Antenna or of the TC ?
I guess, the Antenas touched the Carbon stiffeners ? That could be the reason for your crash, but it's just a guess ;)
I never had any Problems with FASST...

Good point, I didn't even think about the location he might have the two antennas.

The antenna leads come down past the tail rods. the part of the antenna that is covered in insulation is ziptied to the support so that the actual antenna lead is well past the carbon....still a concern????

Read receiver installation on Page 2 of above.
Make sure you read 3,4,5,6 under Reciever installation carefully and understand them.

Yeah- it says that the antenna needs to be at least 1/2" away from the carbon and then it states that this is not applicable to the coaxial portion of the antenna. There is at least 1" or more room from the coaxial to the antenna lead so I am guessing that is not it unless it is just more sensitive than it leads me to believe. It flew for the first pack great and then about 4 min into the 2nd pack before it died, then dived, then really died. Guess I just am hoping for a magic answer to help me avoid this again- it sure reuins a Sunday morning. Thanks for checking into the info like you have

Your had a hard realization that 2.4 ghz is not cure all. 2.4ghz is not any different that other radio freqs in only that you do not need to worry about what frequency your on.
It can still lock out and go to failsafe, no matter what technology or brand of the 2.4ghz system. There is problems like yours posted almost every week with 2.4ghz systems.
As with any other frequency band, you have to be dilegent about how you install the receiver and antennas. Especially when using the system in a electric powered heli with carbon frames.

Hmmm, that's very difficult ....
Are you sure, that the "antenna tips" can't touch the Carbon Frame or rear stiffeners, even in a Loop or Tic Toc ? I cannot imagine a 600e coming down, because someone stands between TC and RX ...
Battery packs still okay ? Sure that there couldn't have been any short circuit, by him the BEC of the Regulator went down ?
I had that problem with my Mini Titan, there were some Scale LED's on my Mini Titan, and i did a Pirouette, two contacts met each other and my jazz regulator went down and didn't initialise again !

I hope you'll understand, what I'am saying :D

Thanks guys- I will let you know more after I do some csi crash scene and locate the black box! There were only about 25 flights on this model- I have seen lots of @#$%^^% about the XL motor. I will post if I can figure out the cause. Thanks again.

Have you read any of the static issues the T-rex 500 is having? This may be the cause.

Here's a link to what I'm talking about:
Lockout/Brownout Problems - Static is a #1 issue (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=61205)

Futaba has a problem with some tx modules, look on their web site.
Just had all 3 tested

One module is in the advisor. The TM 7

Very few units were affected.

I checked the advisor- mine was not affected. After rebuild and careful inspection I NEVER found any concerns- I have returned to the same field and have flown at least 10 flights with no more concerns- I will look into the static issues though- starting to look like just a glitch with some very sweet timing!
