My 550 kit came including one of the those unpainted 'milk jug' canopies so I ordered the Gaui painted fiberglass canopy. The problem with the new one is that the ears of the canopy are much further apart and, as a result, the stock Body Retainer Posts are now not long enough to engage the canopy grommets. Does anyone know of any longer retainer posts that are out there that could provide an additional 3/4" or so in length on both sides? Also would anyone know where to get a set of grommets that fit the 550? I had to CA the grommets that came with it to the unpainted canopy and the painted one did not include them. I've searched but have not been able to find anyone with Gaui grommets in stock.
Any help would be appreciated.
The stock posts are 20mm to the flat. I got a pair of Trex 600 posts, and they are 34mm to the flat. They are plastic, so you can make them shorter if needed. # H60030T-1

I got my grommets at Lowes. I don't know about longer stand offs to mount the canopy, sorry, but maybe the stand offs from one of the larger helis would fit?

the trex 600 mounts are a bit longer and work great.

why did you CA the grommets into the canopy?

The plastic that the grommets fit onto was beginning to crack due to it being so thin. CAing the grommets to the canopy did a good job in reinforcing the plastic.
My thanks to ICCA and xodarap1 on their excellent suggestions. The T600 canopy posts/grommets arrived today and they are a PERFECT fit for the 550. Just had to shorten the posts a little.

A good fix for the canopy cracking is to ca some light fabric on the inside. I ca'd over the broken/cracked hole then just drilled a new hole.
I have been flying my plastic canopy for a while now and it has held up pretty well with a few ca repairs. I'm almost afraid to put on the nice FG one.

Another quick tip for the plastic canopy - use talcum powder in the recess between the gromet and the canopy, pack it firm with a cotton bud and then hit with CA. Very strong locally and I haven't had any further cracking in this area.

Thank for the suggestion. I just broke one as a result of hitting TH from 5 feet up. Landed a bit harsh.
