Hello
I bought a used Raptor 30 from a guy about 3 months ago. It came with radio, jr500 ring gyro, and ready to fly. I flew if as is for about two months but decided to upgrade the radio to my DX7 once I was used to the heli. I also put a o.s 37 in it since it had a .32 in it. Once I installed everything, I took it out for a test flight. The heli felt like a new machine. The responce even seemed quicked. I broke the .37 in and began to do some sport flying. On a landing approach, the heli started to slowly to the left without and input and It didnt respond to my inputs. All other inputs seemed to work, as I attempted to punch out of the landing. Only the tail didnt respond. Long story short, I crashed. gave it a quick look over and the tail servo was responding to my inputs just fine.

I finally got it back together today and decided to take it out. Flew a few tanks and she flew pretty good. After my third refueling, I began a slow lift off and the heli started to turn nose left again with no input. Clicked it in throttle hold and attempted to bring her down but it didnt go so good since the heli had a nose down attitude.

The same thing is causing me to crash but I dont know what it is. All servos seem to work fine, Engine is running good and the gyro holds great except for these few instances. Can some one please help. Its getting pretty dang expensive buying new blades and replacement parts.

What could cause this?:arggg:

hmm hard to say. actually i had a bit this type problem on my old HBK2. everything worked nicely except sometimes, if i happened to play with normal/idle mode switch. sometimes my heli was jammed and only pitch + rudder worked.

even taking battery out and putting it back did not always repair it, no ideas what caused it. ok good thing is that it never happened while i was flying. now i'm planning to change rx to that hbk2. I don't trust anymore hbk's own radio/receiver. and besides, i can now use that my old esky 0406a radio on sim. i just cut power cables from tx chip inside of radio to save energy and now i don't need to keep antenna open :clappp

have you been trying with anohter rx?? also is your tx working with other helis/planes ok? how about your battery?

have you ever cleaned your radio from inside?? use some electronic cleaning spray to clean your trimmers and resistor pots inside... it helps sometimes too. :smokin:

thanks

Sounds like your gyro is failing with temp, since the servo is consistently moving the same direction every time it goes out. If it were the servo going bad, I'd imagine it would act more erratically.

If my heli were to do this to me, I'd immediately suspect the gyro, and swap it out ASAP.

Hi,
Make sure you let the gyro initialize. Pause a moment and let the ship sit still for awhile before you move it. The gyro needs time to initialize. If you try to lift off without this happening you are going to have your hands FULL.

If this is just a kind of out of no where thing.... I'd replace the gyro with a Solid G. The only other thing I can think of is a bad potentiometer in the tail servo itself. Give the tail servo some bench time and see if you can't make it act up. If it seams ok then just get a Solid G and be done with it.
