I have G3 right now, but am thinking of getting Phoenix, what is so special and what are the differences. I am going to run it on a Macbook running Bootcamp with Vista will this work.
Does the kit Rediheli sell come with the correct cable I need for my DX7
Thanks in advance

Don't know anything about bootcamp (sounds like hard work to me), but the cable that comes with Phoenix plugs right in to your DX7 (no adapter).
I am currently using Vista 64 bit with no problems.

Can you tell me the Differences between the phoenix and realflight

I've flown Realflight only a couple of times in the LHS, once when I could hardly hover a real bird, and again after I'd flown Phoenix for a while, it feels different, the way it flys it's kind of like driving someone else's car, I'm sure someone flying Phoenix the first few times would feel the same.
The biggest problem I have with Realflight is the graphics, they look computer generated, I fly on a 1080P (1920 X 1080) 100" screen, on that Phoenix really shines, since the fields are from actual photos you can see every blade of grass clearly, the water effects are an added bonus.
The way I look at if it appears real when you fly on the sim, it will help more in your actual flying.

Physics.......
I don't think I have come across anyone yet who has NOT preferred the physics in Phoenix.

It should run fine on your machine. I run it on a MacBook Pro using Vista with Boot Camp. I'd make sure your RAM is maxed out, though. I had RealFlight 4.5 and sold it on eBay. I much prefer Phoenix.

To answer the main question, the physics are much more realistic in Phoenix. I've had RF3.5 and Phoenix blows it away. It also doesn't use as much computing power and the graphics are better. Constant free updates, and you don't have to shell out another 200 bucks to get the "new better" version.
I run phoenix on bootcamp.

I also run it in Boot Camp, running XP. It will actually run off my Boot Camp partition in Parallels, but I have to turn off most of the effects to smooth it out enough to be useful.

Phoenix is on its way, Thanks for helping me spend some more money on this money pit of a hobby.

Phoenix doesnt come with a controller and Realflight doesnt work well with you're own controller. Both come with adapters but using my DX7 with realflight was almost pointless.
IMO a sim without using your own controller is a bad idea.
I sold RF with the idea of buying Phoenix to use with my DX7.

You found one. I absolutely hate the physics in phoenix. Helicopters float in the air like a kite on a string. Flipping and rolling helis in this sim ins't even close and is almost laughable. It's takes a lot of tweaking of their pseudo physics to get a heli to "feel" right.
I'm not saying that others sims are way better or even much better at all, but Phoenix feels the more fake to me than other sims.
The two things I will give Phoenix is it's very optomized (was written very well) and the graphics are very pretty. Others sims are ugly and performance hogs when compared. That to me though isn't enough to keep me using this sim. I will probably be selling mine soon.

Define "pointless"... The only thing wrong with using your own controller in realflight is for some stupid reason the sim will not read the "pitch" channel from your receiver to properly set the blade pitch. Realflight has its own blade curves which is yes annoying, but other than that using a DX7 (or any other radio) works very well. I wouldn't call it pointless tho.

Maybe "pointless" is the wrong word, I became frustrated with RFG4 when I bought my own controller. IMO it required too much effort to get a DX7 tx to work properly.

I simply don't agree. The 600N model is VERY close to the real thing. All I did was turn up the cyclic rates and increase the piro rate and headspeed a little.

Hello guys
I bought the Real Flight 3.5 because I have an older laptop that can't handle the 4.0 version. I use to flight planes 5 yrs ago, I was hovering a heli the same day the sim arrived so i'm thinking about how close to the real thing the sim can take you. I have the sim for 3 weeks now and i'm already flying inverted. So my question is does the sim provides the real feel?? or I am a good learner with skills?

It really helps because I can tell after 1 month.

I just ordered a Phoenix. I have a Futaba 9CHP tweaked for my real 600e heli-setup. Will I be able to plug and play if I fly a 600 model in the sim, or will I have to change the settings in my TX? I'm not sure I like this idea of changing my settings from sim to real and back again.

Just use one of the unused model positions in your 9cap. set phoenix up to that and tweak the sim so it flies like your heli if you have to. it'll be real close anyway and won't take much if any tweaking to make it realistic.
then just go to the phoenix model position when you want to fly the sim and to your heli position when you fly your bird.
the phoenix radio setup in the software is the best I've seen in any sim and very intuitive.
I see you're in Maine, I love Maine!!! wonderful state!!

Have you tried to run phoenix on Macbook pro running parallels? If not, know of anyone who has? I just ordered phoenix and am planning on trying it.
Phoenix will not run on a VM. Just use bootcamp.

Yes you will definately have to use a different model setup in your radio. Assuming the Futaba supports multiple model setups (I'm sure it does) you will need to set up one just for phoenix and you will want to disable swash mixing in order to get it working right.
