Hey all,

me again

Anyways, I am trying to get my tail servo all setup ...still (3400g). Anyways, I think it is a little higher than the stock which means its closer to the frame. I had to install it this way to get all 4 mounting screws in. My question is does the servo rod need to be parallel to the boom? I had to flip the ball link to the other side of the horn so the parallelism is gone. The rod is nice and straight still though. Does it affect flight characteristics at all is the rod is not parallel to boom?

Thanks again guys....soon this thing will be installed!

Jer, from what I know about servos and such, I think the relationship of the tail boom to the rod does not matter. I think what is important is the relationship between the servo and what it is controlling, in this case, your tail rotor. I would make it to where it is a straight shot between servo and where it connects on the tail. If the rods moves straight it will function better than if the rod is tweaked and causing binding at either end.

Now, if I am wrong, I am sure we will hear about it.

when I mounted my 3400G in the stock position I only used 2 screws - now I have it on the boom (much better) with all 4 screws.

ya, i found if mounted with only 2 screws in the stock position the servo did not feel too secure. So I bumped it up a hole and was able to mount with all 4 screws. This made it very tight, clearance wise but i think will work great. The rod is aligned nice, but just not parallel to boom, which I do not think will affect anything. I will let you know :)

Did mounting it on the boom with 2 mounts mess up your CG much?

no it actually helped since I am using bigger heavier batteries.
