Blade, i would put your own servo's on it if you have the choice... why flying-hobby does not offer a quality servo option on one of the combos, i can't understand! I posted a couple of days back on how good i 'thought' the Maxwells were for the money, but i poped a case open yesterday on a hard landing... thats right, not a crash!!!... and it jumped a couple of teeth on the output shaft. Me be a lazy SOB did not wanna strip it down, remove the servo, rebuild the servo and reset the geometry... i thought i'd twist it back before i pushed the servo case back together... one of the reduction gears now has 2 less teeth:arggg: and the servo case pops apart really easy! What kind of muppet designs a servo that pushes together and is secured with a decal!!?? OK they are fast, center well but fall apart too easily... the "Alfa" of the servo world!! I had a spare from the combo kit i got from Fung (and had to rebuild, and setup the CCPM again anyway ) but am now deciding if i should pay the $2.90 for a gear set and CA the case together or fork out $90 for 3 Hitecs... waiting on Helicuzz to report back...

the 3d combo looks better to me. a phoenix esc is a good investment.

Blade i can only advise you go with your skillz... if you fly 3D then go for it! I am getting back into the Heli thing faster than i thought.. can hover tail in and just about side on in both directions... i was just about getting the hang of nose in when i quit before... I think by the time i master all 4 orientations with this tiny beast and sort out ff and am ready for 3d then the Hurricane will have evolved into some chain-driven nuclear powered semi-sentient UAV!!! I think that because this is such a popular craft in the east because of its size and Gaui are a relatively small/dynamic outfit... Greybeard is right, the evolution speed is super fast... so don't get a 3d now if your not there... by the time you get there it will all have changed and you'll be left with outdated kit

I heard about the servo cases (well, the similar Blue Birds) popping out, so I taped and glued mine before installing them.

Out of curiosity, is the case the only reason why the Maxwell servos are considered junk or are there other problems with these that we should be worried about?

Fusen, as far as i can see, they work well for what they are, i just got pi55ed off with mine coz i was dumb enough to break one... BECAUSE the case popped... rather than the rest of the servo being junk
