The swash bearing/ball that slides on the mainshaft on my heli separated from the swashplate assembly in mid-flight.

I am therefore looking for a replacement. Will the swashplate for the TREX 500 work on the Hurricante 550? I am thinking of getting this: http://www.readyheli.com/H50016_Metal_Swashplate_T_Rex_500_p/h50016.htm
It is cheaper than the one for the Hurricane.

I am also looking at: http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=30_321_322&products_id=5882

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.
I have attached a picture to show what happened. As you can see, the middle part of the swash separated.

even the stock Gaui swash didn't have a guide pin. it was an upgrade when using the CNC swash guide. so yes, the HDX/H550 swash will work. just transfer the pin over from the old swash. Of course, most of the other HDX cnc parts have been reported as being cheaply made. you might be better off getting the Gaui swash since they have corrected the problem of them seperating

Good tip on the loc-tite... will try that if it happens to mine. Over 150 flights and a half dozen crashes mine still works great.

Mine separated - fortunately as the 550 was spooling down at the end of a flight. With my swash the 'inner ring' that the ball is mounted in came free. I locktited it and it has done another 60 - 80 flights since with no problems.

That's plastic, use CA not loc-tite. Loc-tite does bad things to plastic.

if that's plastic, then replace it with a metal one

I don't think there is any plastic in the metal swash....at least not on mine.

No metal... on both the swashes I have. One came with the plastic 'head' set for a CF framed kit, the other with the complete CNC head that I bought at the same time.

EDIT: mjdee14 - I'm agreeing with you.....

Did plastic frame kits come with part plastic swashes?

On my first one the equivalent part to that (the circular collar that holds the ball) is plastic, however it comes out "up" not "down". I CA-ed mine as a precaution when people had a problem with this last time.
