Also, the 700 only has 2 bearing blocks on the main shaft. Not sure why?
Considering the head and tail CNC work on the Aurora, the price doesn't seem bad at all, IMO. Align isn't exactly blowing them out of the water when it comes down to price.

to me the wide frame setup looks like it would be sturdier. my LHS will be carrying all the 700 parts, and no aurora parts, we will be getting one aurora kit, but I would have to order parts for the aurora and wait.

I've seen the 700 and Aurora in person and I like the aurora better. It has all those shiney bright bits. The 700 is all dark and black. I can't think of a better reason to buy a heli.

why do you think that is so funny. to me it looks sturdier because everything is housed between the frames. on the avant I believe quite a bit of it is sticking out of the frame. plus the wide frames make a much more rigid "box" than the avant frames. the 700 I believe has 2mm frames, with 2.5mm bottom plate, and frame stiffeners. I have seen the 700 in person and it looks awesome, I am sure the avant is too.

Oh, that explains your logic
You might want to take a look at the "Robustness" of the Aurora here:

I have seen that vid before it survives quite well. I would bet the 700 would fare about as well, and still cost less to repair. it was just luck that the tail was not damaged or the TT gears.

If it is so "Robust"..why did it break in the air from not that hard of a flight?. We've all seen ASJ beat on a copter way harder.

I agree. That was not pilot error. That was a heli error. Maybe that's why the Aurora wasn't out in a timely manner. Time will tell which is better and which sells better. My money is that the TRex 700 will outsell the Aurora and fly as good, if not better than the Aurora. The Aurora pundits will also say their helis are the best. Yada yada yada.

+1 :D
700 sales will definitely out do the Aurora because it didn't take 2 years to come out and it will just be a better heli

having built a 700N I can tell you there is far far far less flex in the frames than a 600N, they are not comparable in any way. I can grab a 600N and flex the frames relatively easily, grab a 700N and you might as well try and flex a house brick, the thing is absolutely solid. Mostly due to the much beefier side frames and frame suports, plus the carbon is weaved at a 45 degree angle as well as horizontal and vertical. We have crashed it and it's frames came away without a mark on them despite smashing the blades right off the heli and destroying the canopy. Not only that but the main shaft and feathering spindle were straight despite getting a huge whack. We did unfortunately bend the boom and torque tube but aside from that the heli came away in one piece. For those wondering the TT gears didn't strip either.

sad to hear that one has gone down, but good to hear it stands up to crashes well.

Aurora is kinda old now after two years, the 700 is a newer design.
