Ok so i'm still new and have never repaired this section of the heli before so Please help me out.

I purchased a new main gear w/o bearing thinking that I could remove the bearing in my previous gear and replace. Easy said right? Well my main gear bearing would not come out and the new gear has an aluminum insert which also does not come out. Well ok I found out that both the bearing and the insert will come out with a bit of force. Unfortunately the gears were both damaged beyond repair.

So since the heli was not totally new and only new to me, am i to assume that the main gear that was supplied from the factory had something else inside the aluminum insert? And that the gear that I removed from my heli with the bearing was an upgrade at some point?

Either way it looks like i'll now have to source a main gear with bearing at my LHS. Cross your fingers.
:dontknow

it can be done I used a socket and vise squeezed it out and into the new one at the same time......but its prob worth the extra 5 bucks to get it with the bearing.

As tiny as they are (and probably fragile) and as inexpensive as it is with the bearing already installed, I would have to agree with Lock. I have yet to try to replace one myself but I think if the time comes, I am getting it with the bearing pre-installed.

Ok so I purchased the main gear and a one way bearing as they were out of the gear with bearing. Which direction does this thing mount. I know the gear is placed with the extension side down but which way does the bearing face? There is some text and an arrow on the bearing. Does this arrow go toward the top of the Heli or the bottom? Any help appreciated.

Oh yea by the way the gear w/ bearing is made as one piece so you can't re-use the bearing just FYI.

Come on hawk, that is an easy one. Place the arrow so it is pointing the right direction.

:lolol Sorry, waiting on my computer and had to entertain myself.

OK so I got the new main gear and a bearing and also found out that the main bearing can be removed. Yes read some additional posts about using a socket etc.. and it worked. Good thing I knew how to remove it as I installed it the wrong way at first!

Got the beast back together and replaced the tail boom, feathering shaft, main blades, check tail shaft, and all is back together but....

It seems like when i'm looking at the tracking and turn to the right the heli blades actually go back and to the right same happens when turning left. Any ideas?
Thanks

Will do, it seems like i'm getting some sort of mix or something. I'm wondering if in my newness to the controller I have accidentally turned some thing on. Can someone advise what the settings are to be set at as a default?

Thanks

Not sure why so many people have a problem replacing the one-way in the main gear. One thing to note is that if you get the full gear + one way, the bearing is loc-tite'd in, and not simply pressed in. I used a large C clamp, some socket's I had around (I think the larger was 11mm, forget the smaller), and a heat gun. If you look through Finless's video's he has an excellent video on replacing the main gear on the old trex and is a must watch. The only differance is that you need to make sure you heat the bearing up before pushing it out. I was thinking of getting the align bearing removal kit to see if that had the same dimensions . . that said once you get it out it's really a simple procedure.

Also when I installed the bearing in the new gear, I don't use loc-tite so it's much easier to replace it later, and it holds really well (not sure why eflite used loctite there anyhow).
