hi all

as you can probably guess im trying to fix the backup issue. i took out the battery pack to cycle it and when i re connected it the backup error message appeared. i have been reading about a fix by playing with the switches i have tried but no luck. i dont know what type of dx7 it is

is there a heli and plank version of this radio?
if so how do identify it?
is there any fix i can try before i send the radio back to horizion?

thanks for your help in advance

Heli or Plank radio..

As far as the programming, there usually isn't a difference between heli or plane. Both have the same 'brain'. The real difference is in the placement of the switches and the smoothness of the throttle stick. On heli radios there is no ratcheting on the throttle/collective stick (left stick, mode 2) and the placement of the 3-position switch is usually on the left top corner of the Tx. Transmitters designed for planes have a distinct clicking/ratcheting on the throttle as those flying planes are more apt to set the throttle at cruise and leave it be. Where heli pilots make small precise inputs to the collective all the time. The ratcheting would make holding altitude while hovering difficult.

I got the airplane version and the ratchet was installed on the throttle. However, there was a smooth metal replacement for the throttle that came with mine.

Also, the heli version defaults to heli when you set up a new model or clear a model. Whereas, the plane version defaults to plane.
