i started the x-spec and ran it up, shut down, started again and then all of the sudden it seemed like my clutch locked up?? when i would turn the starter shaft the rotor head would turn also. when i got to looking at it my clutch wasn't locked but something else? i held the starter shaft and forcefully turned the rotor head and got it to turn but some small metal shaveings fell out and i don't know where they came from?? after playing around with it, it finally let loose but now i have a whineing noise when i turn my main gear, that noise may be something different though.

thanks

Sounds kinda like the fan backed off the engine and the clutch is rubbing the bell.

Doesn't matter as you'll find the problem as your tear it down.....YOU ARE going to tear it down right  ......Metel shavings falling make it worth that at least!

I did the exact same thing to my Evo this weekend. I don't know if the clutch assembly is the same or not but on mine the fan backed off the engine crank shaft. If your getting metal shavings it sounds like maybe the bolts for the clutch may have backed out and are rubbing on the inside of the clutch bell......Either way the engine needs to come out for a look......Good luck, Alan

FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!

My bolts that hold the clutch down had come loose and was rubbing the top of the bell houseing. replaced the bolts and had it hovering and breaking in the engine a few hrs later :D :D :D :D :D
