just ordered the gear ratio for 12s today for my phazor 600. Gonna give it a try. I'll keep you posted how it works.

What packs will you be using? I am thinking about doing a 12s sometime and was actually thinking about using packs in the 2500-3000 mah range.

I have a pair of 3200 flight power 30c/60c batteries. If the run times are good and the batteries stay cold i have also beeen thinking of 2500 flight power packs they make theme in 25/50/c 6s packs for the trex500 2 of those would be very light. just not sure if they can pull enough amperage, for a 7.5 pound heli. I might try thrme in one of my swift 16's. with a 8s 3200 mah they only weigh 6 pounds with 2, 2500 6s packs it should only be slightly heavier and i'm sure that they would put out enough amps for that setup with 550 blades.

You might want to look into the 6s 2500 Evo Lites. Since the amp draw would be so low these would probably work and it would be super light! Also, you want your batteries to get a little warm during flight to help them discharge better. I think they would be able to handle the amp draw fine.

Your flight time with that low of a milliamp pack isn't going to be good. Maybe 3-4 minutes and it's going to really stress those packs. Best to go with a 12s 3300mah pack for flight duration and normal pack life.

I just flew my 620 swift with the 3200 packs in a 10s setup,14/14 pitch 1950 headspeed and a fair amount of hard flying and the packs were 90 degrees fareheit .4 minute flight and only put 1600 mah back in so it should be good for 6 minutes and with 12s it should be good for 7 i'm thinking.I may just have to try those 2500 packs. i think i woud get 5.5 min and loose a half pound.and judgeing the mah usage and the coolness of the pack,i don't think i'm pulling many amps. a 6 minute flight at 2400 mah means it's only pulling an average of 24 amps, those 2500 packs can pull 62 cont and 125 peak.i think they would work great on this setup.

Can't wait to see the results. You should have lower amp draw no doubt.

If this works the way i hope it does ,i'm thinking of useing the 2500's in a swift 16 on 12s.and i think i can keep it at 6 pounds or close.

Yea the main concern for me is the weight since I like a really light feeling heli. A five minute flight would seem long to me as I'm used to 3:30. I can't see the purpose of going 12s if your heli is going to weigh 9.5 pounds. Wow, a 550 heli on 12s... Awesome!

the gearing came in today.i installed the 12s motor and 2 6s 3200 batteries.hope to fly it in the next couple days.tha weight came in at 8.5 pounds. 4 oz came from the motor and 12 oz from the bigger batteries.and another 3 oz from putting the haevy duty landing gear back on and the milkjug canopy versus the lexon.the 12s batteries wouldn't fit under the lexon canopy. If it works out i think a pair of 2500 6s batteries and a neu 1910 will take off a 3/4 of pound and put it at 7.7 pounds.Witch would only be 4oz heavier then the 8s setup.and my calculations would put the 2500's at the same run times as the 3700 8s witch i get 4 minutes hard flying.I'm thinking the 3200's should get me 5 minutes.

first flight on the 12s phazor today.power is awesome but the extra weight is holding it back.i either need to lightenit up with the neu otor and smaller batteries or go with bigger blades. It will pull forever with 600 blades at 14 pitch.i think the lighter idea would be the best.the esc was ambient the motor 95 degrees farenheight and the 3200 batteries were 110 so if my calcultions are correct the the 2500 batteries with the heli at 7.5 pounds verses it's current 8.5 would have sufficant amperage and should still run 4 minutes.and a neu motor would be lighter and have more power.in my swifts i tested the neu against the 650, and the 650 needed 10s to perform the same as the 1907 neu on 8s.

Did you get to try it with the 620 blades?
That will lighten up your disc loading.

only had time for one flight between rain drops.tommorrow night i will put the 620's on and have my buddy tach it.I know it's screaming, if i had to guess i would say 2400 to 2500.on a 4 minute flight i put 1950 mah back into the 3200's so 5 minute flights should be possible.I would really like to try a neu 1910 on 12s in it.but that will have to wait for a while.

2 more flights tonight.doing some back to back comparison's with my 8s swift( witch is the fastest heli I've ever flown)any ways tonight i was more impressed.seemed very close to the performance of that 6 pound 8s rocket of a swift.first flight 5 minutes put back 2150 on 3200 packs second flight was 5.5 minutes and the packs are still chargeing ,but the power meter on my balancer's showed them to still be within the 80%capacity.Can'y put the 620's on with the 105 tail blades.so i increased pitch, the rocket launches are insane as fast as I've seen.Today i ordered 90 tailbelt to go with the longer boom and 710 blades i allresdy have for it.
I've never run 90 sized blades before . Whats the recommended headspeed on 710 carbons.I'm guessing 1800 to 2000.
