@ r40734:
OMG... one person with all his mind on this forum
i totally agree with you
it's unfortunately all about economy:arggg:

i'm not gonna fly any of those helis... the .50 size is well enough for me
but it's still funny to see the fight between both "clan"
align and their "vacuum":P
aurora and their "delay":P
i'm reading those forums only for all the drama arround it:lol:

i think they're both gonna be nice helis
they're both gonna have some little issues
and both users won't admit those issues:lol:

it's like when the vibe 50 came out:
JR fans where saying it was a way better quality than a t-rex 600,
and finally there are already somr people complaining about minor things.

please don't get me wrong:
i'm not saying any helis is better than another (i'm flying an old junior 50 ... from schluter... yeah... it's 20 years old:YeaBaby: )

i'm just saying that RC heli hobby is a really hard hobby...
that needs a LOT of attention, and where a lot of things can go wrong:
electronik
motor
etc...

at the end i'm sometimes asking to myself:
is any of those helis different?
is it not the user himself the only difference?

just my 2 cents

now fight can keep going:YeaBaby:

No one is fighting! we're all just adding our opinions to this forum so that we can have something to talk about, If not- then I'll have to resort in talking to the plank guys at the field and I'm SURE they would love this conversation!! lol--NOT--. I think that no matter what we have to say, we will all eventually end up with either the Aurora or the 700 or both. This is just a way we stick together as a consumer IMO. no matter which bird is the beater or not, I'm sure there will be a favorite.but that doesn't mean that it will not be flown and just looking pretty on the table, I think that the FAVORITE bird will be flown more but just won't be banged around as hard. But until my Aurora shows up in the mail. I can do nothing but talk..lol

I, for one, will be content to sit back and see how the TREX 700 and the Aurora last over time. There is also the Odin to consider (which just won some contest in Spain).

Over time we will all see how the various machines perform, how well they last, and how much it costs to own one (crash and maintenance costs).

It should be a very interesting year for .90 sized helicopters.

I like the new comments posted, to say something is better because where in the world is produce it just ...hmm "freedom of speech to some"

If a company listens to it's end users and correct any issue thats good in my books, what I would like to see is if there is a part know to be defective, then a recall should be made free of charge same as we have in the car industry.

We should use the same principle in our purchase of heli as we do with our cars, ie reliability, fuel consumption, serviceability, parts and cost of ownership (we just bypass all of this because the Jones have one).

Sometimes you just got to try it before you can form an opinion, before I went nitro I read all the up and down about nitro, but now that I own one I love them, I can see why some of you hate it, but for me I just love them.

I am glad that this man has been able to see his dream come true, and his product becomes successful, it take people like these to make the world a better place, I always ask the question are you a leader or a follower?

Fly what you can afford to crash, as for me I'm getting both to test out for myself.

Robert

I'll throw another angle at this as a comparison.
In the UK and most of Europe the prices are as follows (including VAT.)

1) Aurora $1559.84 (£799) No upgrades required
2) Rap 90 SE $1403 (£719) No upgrades required
3) Synergy $1364 (£699) Why the upgrades I know plenty of people that hard 3d them stock. The hub just makes it easier, not a necessity.
4) T-Rex700 $TBC + All speculation
5) Avro $1754 (£899) (no upgrades required)
6) Vibe 90 $1365 (£699) (no upgrades required)

As posted before I have already found the “hyper expensive hei” parts are cheaper in the UK then the Aurora however I am pretty much sure this would be different in the US or in other places. Even the Vibe 90 is $200 cheaper and comes with a painted canopy (further $300 £150 saved) therefore $500 cheaper in total

This means different strokes for different folks. I believe fly what you can afford and if budgets are tight look at the spare parts rather than the bling you get in the box. There is a reason some manufacturers use aluminium booms, it’s cheaper to replace and some have found it better for the application then carbon. Just ask CY. It’s the same for G10. I still remember a Fury winning 3D masters with G10 frames a couple of years ago, Cant be that bad?

Who's paying $300 (US) for a painted canopy and is actually worried about prices?

I just don't get the repeated references to these overpriced canopies. For $300 I can find any painted or unpainted canopy online somewhere for $50 or so, buy an airbrush, primer, paint, tape, etc. and still be money ahead. Another $50 canopy, the paint and supplies I already have, and suddenly I have 2 canopies to use, still for less than $300.

What gives?

Agreed, about the only canopy job I know of that you're going to pay 300 bucks for is a Yost job and you have to wait a while... His are the best though IMO.

Heck you can get Canomods for 100 bucks or so. Align painted ones are 79 bucks and look pretty decent.

Unfortunately not everyone has the time, paint and facilities to paint their own canopies.
Forget the painted canopy, The Vibe 90 in Europe is still $200 cheaper and some parts are cheaper so the canopy is only one element of the stated "affordable” in the "comparative" equation.

If anyone in the UK wants their heli to look anything like the advertised machines
http://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?SS=aurora+dyd&ACTION=Go%21&PR=-1&TB=A&SHOP=

In Europe that’s an additional $300, granted for possibly the highest quality paint job out. However that is pretty much standard rate in the UK to get a lid painted (Airoart, DF,etc). At that price you can crash 2.5 (poor quality) painted Align canopies.

Please don’t get me wrong, Aurora looks an awesome machine for 3D and a bargain for you folks in the US, just trying to determine “affordable” against other new manufacturers who are producing painted lids for cheaper then you buying a blank and painting it yourself?

Once again different strokes for different folks depending where you are. once again not trying to mock anyone that can afford it.
