i am doing something wrong with the setup. This is my first real heli. I have had a few cheap ones that didnt have pitch or anything, but i have been flying on the simulator and decided to give it a try with the blade 400. I tried to wing the setup using the instuction booklet, but im obviously doing something wrong. Can anyone walk me through setting up the heli? I am a complete noob and need some help.

Setting should be almost identical to the Dx6i. But you are going to have to fine tune a bunch of setting for your specific heli. No two helis, even though they are the same brand, will be setup the same on the same type of radio.

I do not have a link to the DX6i settings, but I am sure if you search here you can find one.

Bit of cross referenceing here, but Casey Lamm over on the RC Universe forums just posted the answer to your question...

Well you would think that using a dx6i and dx7i would be the same. Just the 2 radios up the same way and bind the one you want to use and go fly. Well Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Even Specktrum, and Horizon couldn't tell me why. They just said it takes a little more "monkeying." After posting and not getting a 100% answer, I figured I would document what works.

Before getting stated make sure you have the following connections at the receiver. Note - when i am referencing servos I am viewing the heli from the tail.

Aux 1 - bottom left servo just infront of gyro (http://www.rcuniverse.com/buynow/keywordclick.cfm?bid_id=5302)
Gear - single yellow gain wire from gyro.
Rudd - 4 wire connector from gyro.
Elev - wire going to forward left servo just in front of the motor.
Aile - top right servo infront of gyro
Thro- wire going to speed control.
Batt - not connected

Now make sure all the black wires line up to the - sign on the receiver. The single yellow wire connector goes in the same orientation as the orange wires.

DX7i Setup

1) Press down and the select button while turning model on
2) Use increase/decrease to select an empty model
3) Use access up to get to the menu that selects heli/plane, use increase to set that to Heli
4) Use access button and goto swash type menu, choose 3 servo 120 degree
5) Trainer, Thro recover should both be set to IHN
6) Goto input select menu, set Aux2 to F-Mod, set Gear to Gyro
7) Hit the select and menu botton at the same time to exit this mode of setup

11) Swash Mix, Aile -75 Elev +75 Pit. +85. 3 servos 120 degrees, exp inh

Preflight Check

Turn TX On making sure the b400 model is selected.
Once on make sure throttle hold ( aile d/r sw) is on.
Plug in charged b400 batt

INPUT (stick/direction) | Look for

left / forward swashplate to lower
left / down swashplate to raise
right / forward swashplate to tilt forward
right / down swashplate to tilt toward the rear(tail)
right / right swashplate to tilt right
right / left swashplate to tilt left
left / left tail pitch slider moves right
left / right tail pitch slider moves left

Thats it, don't fly unless you verify these movements.

Good luck, please let me know if you found this helpful.
