I have a 2.4ghz X9303 radio and want to increase the charge capacity of the radio. Don't wish to void the warranty by attempting to run lipo's.
I hear people using 2500mah or 2700mah packs
which one's do you use? I can't find which one will be compatable with my radio as the pack size seems way different than other's I've used in past.

You just need a 8AA NIMH battery pack, they are ussually sanyo batteries and available in 2500MAH or 2700MAH. Lasts hours. It will fit

Horizon sells a 2500mah pack, also check Fromeco.

I use a 2500mah lipo in my x9303 and one charge lasts me a month.

Was trying to use flight power but does not fit what bsttery brad do you use?

I put a 3s1p LiPo pack in mine, but I added two 1N4001 diodes in series in the negative lead to drop the voltage to what you'd normally see with a fully-charged NiMh pack; 10.9V or thereabouts. I get the advantages of a LiPo pack without any fear of damage to my nice new X9303! On top of that I no longer have any danger of forgetting and trying to charge the Tx through the standard charge port as the diodes I added will block the charge current! ;)

I would have thought that the diodes would do nothing as they are placed in the circuit after the load???

It will work whether you put them in the positive OR negative lead... it is still a resistance to current flow. Besides, back in the '80's in my electronics training (by ITT Technical Institute) I was taught that current actually flows from negative to positive (many "old school" electronics people will argue otherwise), so assuming for the moment that is true, my diodes are actually before the load and not after. ;)

I'm going to order that 2500 battery for my 9303 radio...Just wondering if I change the battery will I loose my models in the memory?
Thanks

nope
I think the memory is stored to a flash type memory so you're safe.
I use a hangtime NO BS battery in my, nimh is a great battery chemistry if you tend to forgot to take care of your Tx packs.

update! got the battery installed other night. Took a pic, but I'm at work and pics at home
fully charged this pack is at 12-12.1v. That lasts about 2mins lol, then it rides 11.7-11.5 for a LONG time. I flew 5 flights yesterday, plus alot of jacking around with one of my airplanes for probably 10-15mins and still at 11.5v :). I'm going to try to get a few days more of flying out of it and see how the voltage holds. Plus I tend to fly 1-2 days then have to take a week or two off due to work/weather. I'm really hoping the low self discharge helps there. I wanted LiPo like storage with NiMh ability to maintain warranty. Either can charge 1C so that's not an issue.
Although I will say charging these at 1C does get them pretty hot, so I've been using .5C and they seem happier. Cycling on my old Accucycle I can pull 1800-1860mah out before it trips to charge cycle. They are 2000mah rated so I think that's good, as they will start charging once voltage drops to I think 8.4 or 8.6v on the pack.

Yes, it is definitely flash memory. Removing the battery, even for an extended period of time will not cause loss of stored models like the older radios such as the 8103 that used a backup battery for memory.

It will not lose memory. Also with the NIMH i only charge every couple of months, the battery voltage holds well, but remember it is NIMH so it peaks after the charge, then drops and hold pretty well, then keeps dropping.

Same here, I have a 2700 pack. I left it on over night when doing setup and still had enough power to go fly.

Flash memory is non-volatile memory; it does not require a power source to store information. The data is electrically "flashed" onto the storage medium and stays there until it is overwritten by being "flashed" again to that same memory location. Same stuff that digital camera memory is...
Diode is a cheapest and safest way to drop voltage across its terminal. If you want to use lipo in your TX, you can use two Silicon diodes (0.65V drop in each diode) or twelve Germanium diodes (only 0.1V drop) in series to drop around 1.2V across the diodes.
