View Full Version : And now for something even smaller...

Okay kids,
This is the one I've been waiting for, but no, it's still not out yet, may never be. From what I understand, they are having real problems getting production samples to fly.
I've been trying to get it's same-sized, fixed-pitch cousin the 4#3 running for weeks, to no avail. If the simpler version is such a bear to tweek,I simply can't wait for the frustration and blood pressure this little monster may conjure up.
Sigh,,,, It would be neat if something this small could do *any* 3d, but from the fact that they don't have it working yet, and the loose tolerances of the 4#3 that I've got, I'm beginning to seriously doubt it will happen.
If anything, this should be further evidence that we've got dialed into about as small a 3d heli as is practicable.
Fire up the electron microscopes, laddies!

It just can't be practical for it to do any real 3D. The sevos probably won't have enough torque and I would guess the flight times would be terrible, and like Gr4yb3ard said, the simpler fp version of the thing has enough complaints about it you'd think they'd the people at Walkera would stick there heads in the sand and lay low for a year or two ;). I just can't see it happening, but if by some means they get even a working prototype, I'll be forced to give them a pat on the back, but not until then.
"... practical or impractical, that is the question."
Decided I would try the Gr4yb3ard end your post with a funny quote thing, but after this time, I'll leave the quoting up to him. It's more his thing :).

I thought about trying that theory, but I knew I would fail before I started, so I didn't even try. Within a month of finishing my T-Rex, I got the Gaui. This hobby is too damn addicting ;).

You guys got that right!
Ah, I just spent the morning rebuilding the 4#3 with new head parts.
After learning from Finless and this forum, my 450 came up with minor swash adjustments, my 600 came up with a few subtrim and tracking issues, the GAUI needed one link spun 90dg and some trim to fly well.
The walky however is still doing the same erratic, err, whatever it's trying to accomplish. You sure as h*ll can't call it flying though, not even a controlled crash, whatever, not worth wasting any more time...
I know what I'm doing now, but this thing don't fly for SHEET. :BSS
I'd had hopes of a fleet from 8" rotor to 65", line 'em all up for pics, etc. Ain't gonna happen. On a scale of one to 5, the Walkera 4#3 earns <0> Jolly Rodgers!

All, I am saddened..
This seems to be a recurring theme, as I, too, was once in the thrall of heli-crack!
After recovering, in long, slow steps. I vowed to help, that would be my mission!
I hired publicists, got online, tried to contact those of you that could not, or would not, seek me out.
Please, please, Give it up! I'm here to help.
When you've binjged, and felt the prescense of the beast, give it up! I mean give it up BROTHER! Give it away, and be clean of heli-crack forever.
SIN NO MORE, send your expensive, evil and consumer goods-related heli items to : Capt. Gr4yb3ard @Dock 15349395, Port Bonnymore, Scottland., & thank 'ye.

i got a buzz fly which is the same as the walkera, once you get used the 40% expo type feel it has and tilt the flybar paddles upwards about 10degs they are pretty damn durable wee beasties

Hokay,
I'll try that 10dg trick, any more you got as well. I'm into this witch to the tune of $200 or so.
If it does'nt work though, i'm feedin 'er to the 600!!!

I got a 2.4 ghz 4#3 last Monday. I've probably done 30 flights since then and I'm having a blast with it. It was a handful at first, but turning down the servo travel on the rx helped a lot. My servo links are on the inner holes too which keeps things calmish. Turning the paddles up to around 10 deg makes a big difference too. I'm probably averaging 5 crashes per pack and the only thing thats broke is the battery holder (fixed with thread and ca).
At the end of the day its a walkera, so its only a toy compared to a gaui 200. But don't write it off as a glorified picco-z. I'm doing real ff in my living room while the wind blows outside. And having far more fun than using clearview :D
