Jonny
Sorry didn't get round to doing a vid to day, late back from work and busy since then, will try tommorow if the weathers ok
How come your on the internet at 3 0clock and not at school
No prob about the video, take your time. Theres no rush. Felt sick this morning, also had a bad stomach :( Feeling better now tho :P And I even got to fly my heli whilst every1 was in school:) IT was a nice day but it was a bit too windy.
Is it just me or is it that on a windy day it is much harder to fly? The weather was hot but the wind was throwing the heli around and it makes me feel like im a very bad newbie at flying:(

Of course its harder, lots of people wont fly in wind at all cause theyre scared of it but it's really good practise, just make sure your in idle up so you can pull the the heli down with
negative pitch it tries to shoot up in the air, the minus 2 or 3 degrees in normal mode is not enough, in my flying field the wind comes straight over o row of trees so unlees your higher than them its really turbulent as well.
all the best Ian:)

If the heli is set up right you should have -2 pitch at zero throttle and -1 before mid stick... this is enough to counteract the additional lift gained in high winds.
What i did with my brother for his training is i set -3 pitch at zero throttle so that he would have higher headspeed (more so than with just using the dial knob) and have the -2 pitch below 1/2 throttle.
So if you dont feel comfy flipping that idle up switch especially if your not sure of how the 3d part of your heli is setup pitch wize this is the way to go .

Really? In my field I frequently have to pull the stick back well below half way in idle up when its windy!
It is a pretty turbulent field with the curlover from the trees producing some interesting effects.
DierWolf has much more experience than me however:)

Yeah, Bob reccomends you have some negative pitch in normal mode. I setup my heli like he said to do but the headspeed was scary so I went back to what it normally is.
Ian maybe your setup is wrong in idle up? Maybe you have too much positive pitch and too little negative? Doesn't really matter untill you start flying inverted probably...
It is good having -3 at zero throttle in normal mode because you can do autorotations! I wish I had the confidence I have in the flight sim than in real life. I am pretty good on the sim.. inverted is easy but in real life I struggle to hover:( But I do have to stay low because I dont want to go over someones fence.

Headspeed might sound scary, but its for the best control and stability wise, like i said up to you how you wanna handle wind.

No the pich is +-9 in idle up. I just get some really strong up draughts in the field when its windy
Dier is totally correct about head speed and it's nothing to be scared of
You are just going to improve so much when you get a field to fly in.
Have you got an ally carry case for your heli so you can carry it on a panier rack on your bike?

Ok, I will try my heli again with a higher headspeed. It just sounds so fast like something is going to fly off it.
You must be good to fly in winds like that then Ian;).
No, I don't have an ally case for my heli. I won't take a bike to the field. My dad will take me some where in the car. Still waiting for better weather tho:( I don't know why but I think that when I get into an open field I still wont have to guts to go higher. But I won't know untill I go to a field.

No I'm not, but I'm not willing to be grounded every time the wind blows:)
Just take it steady need a pile of lipo's really I only have 2 at the moment so as soon as I'm warmed up it's time to recharge them

I have 2 of Gerds batts and they work well, if a bit bigger than the 2100 one I already have which came with the copter.
