View Full Version : Failsafe not working..

Finished the final tweaking of my new 500 today and went to set the failsafe condition like I've done with all my other helis and it doesn't want to work. X9303 BTW

Rx is an AR7000. I set the normal throttle curve to all 0, all sticks centered and rebind. This works beautifully on my other helis but after probably a dozen tries with this one, it won't "stick". I even nuked the model and reprogrammed from scratch, but still no joy.

Anyone else run into this???

What does it do?

Nothing..

I energize the heli, let it initialize and then hold the sticks at oddball positions and shut off the Tx.. Servos stay put.. On all my other birds if I do this, the servos all center.

That is how fail safe is supposed to work. All channels except throttle, hold their last position. Throttle goes to bind position.

AR9000/R921 allows you to set failsafe either as hold last position or return to bind position dependiong on whether you leave the bind plug in or remove it after powering up Rx and before powering up Tx for binding.

I must be stoned or something... I popped open the manual last night and yep, that's what it said... Hold last position... I could have sworn all my other helis went to center stick(s) and no throttle.. I should probably check 'em all before I fly 'em again...

Only the BR6000 and 9 ch Rxes allow you to explictly set all the channels for a fail safe position.

OK, I'm officially a moron... Checked all my helis last night and all of 'em hold last position and shut off the throttle when I turn the Tx off...

I'm gonna crawl back into bed and pull the covers over my head....

Funny cuz I ran into the same thing today...did some tweaking on my 600 and of course decided to do the same test, turn off transmitter (all bench stuff so motor is disconnected of course). I thought my recvr was busted since the servos all stayed the same...heh.

Double checked my Dx7 manual and same thing... RF loss means: low throttle and last commanded control surface...heh.

I have to say, given then information then...what the heck is the point if having to make sure the radio controls are in the desired position when "binding" for failsafe at all then!?

The reason for binding with the controls in the desired positions is because when the receiveris first turned on those are the positions the servos go to. So on a 401 gyro it has to initalize in heading hold, so you bind the receiver in that position.

And you don't want the gyro to see a change in "stick" position between the initialized but no link to linked. Otherwise the linked stick position will be seen as an input.
