What is the best way to make a foamy plane?
do i order a kit? build it myself?
I just want to have a fun lightweight 3d foamy that wouldn't break on the first flight
I tend to destroy airplanes on the first flight (beginair, supercub, and 2 of my own terrible creations) so i want to try something different!
I plan on using a 4-channel transmitter and receiver that came with my begin air, also using the servo's from the beginair...
What sort of motor should i use? I want to be able to use the 2cell lipo that came with my cx2...
and what sort of foam?

i would say 3mm Depron. Anything else and might be to heavy for 3d flight. If you are trying to do 3d then get it as light as possible. I have always used 3 cell packs for my foamies with a hacker motor and esc combo. fancyfoam.com has some good foam 3d planes and they sell combos too.

Check out rcgroups foamie sections, there are plenty of planes you can build from plans or buy as kits. I fly a Divo 3d bipe, MDC f-14 swing wing and a couple others. The divo would suit ur needs with a park 300 outrunner.

I built a Yak from this thread
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=420980
the radio is a 05s,Hs55 servos and a Hobby lobby 400 XL outrunner ($19.95). Its my first profile and it was completed in 4 days .The wings was EPS core wing using Eppler228 airfoil. I find it to be a very exciting plane.

This might be a good first self-made foamie.

Kit is fast easy and many come pre-printed so no work on making it look nice.
DIY is fast, easy and cheap using Depron sheet or fan fold insulation.
About 4 billion different kits and plans out there.

Ikarus Shock Flyer!
It doesn't get much better than that 3D foamie. I used to fly 3D foamies A LOT before I got into helis (actually over 100 over a 4 yr. period :) ) and I like the Ikarus the best!

You tube vids of the ikarus Shockies convinced me. But they are a bit rare. I ordered one direct from ikarus in germany./ Damn thing cost me - wait for it before you faint.....90Bucks
Yes 90.
including the brushed crappy motor and carriage fees etc
I mean its only foam! for God's sake. Someone made a killing from me, but at least a got a real ikarus extrema330. :( :)
