Yep, I don't recall what I did to get the originals out, I probably twisted the spindle, making one side of the damper loose and pried it out with a small flat head. On a side note, I tried taking the damn pin out last night and failed :YeaBaby:

Going to try another experiment. This time I've cut the body grommets into head dampers. Much more rigid than the fuel tubing. Will try to fly them tomorrow.

I'm going to try some random experiments with dampening through out the week. I'm usually successful, so I'll let you guys know what I find.
Gaui 200 status for me: All hardware installed, going through DX7 setup and fine tuning. Havent flown it yet. :D

Sorry guys, over the last 3 weeks I have been moving and haven't had any extra time to work on this stuff. I promise I'll get something to test soon.

Update on the canopy grommet dampers. About 15 flights, and they're stiff as hell still.

isn't that ironic? people were tellin the newbs not to mistake the canopy grommets for head dampers a while back. turns out they work..lol:)

First off... Mike take your time, i for one am just happy that you are looking into this on our behalf. As an interim fix though then i have been looking around for an "off the Shelf" solution. Can anyone tell me what "Red" o-rings are made from, used on fule injectors and other stuff. Not the translucent Red that Mike uses on the 450 V2 dampers, but it looks like old fashoned bakelite Red. These O-rings seem to have a much higher resistance to compresive force and a surface with lower friction than traditional rubber O-Rings; just about the perfect solution. If anyone knows what this material is, then maybe we can find a source for a direct replacement.

they are made of viton i believe. they have to resist some pretty harsh chemicals

Just use the canopy grommets! :D

I went a step further and put my grommet/dampers on my dremel, and sanded down the outer radius a bit so they fit better in the head block.

I found some viton o rings that might work, they are c v carburetor o rings for harley davidson mcs. If any one can get me accurate dimensions i will post a part # and you should be able to pick them up at any motorcycle shop, worldwide.
Also since my 200 is not done yet i will send some o rings to someone for testing.

Hey guys , i'm on the verge of getting my hands on a Gaui 200 . I am planning to run 2s 800 mah with the stock motor and pinion and im gona use a CC25 ESC .

1) What would be a good headspeed for normal and idle ?
i heard that 4200 hs is good for 3D

2) What would be the optimal weight i should be flying this thing at for 3D

3) There was a simple fuel tubing mod here . Can i just use a normal silicone fuel tubing that i use on my nitro helis to solve the issue ?

Thanks mates

Hi Matt
I CC10 ESC works just fine unless you already have the CC25.
I know that was not part of your question but just thought I would throw in my $.02.

i sent my head and grips to trueblood today. FYI

What are they going to to your head? Is there something I'm missing out on.

Sorry for the real long delay. Work has gotten very busy and I'm out of town a lot. I'm still trying to get the new dampers that I already have finished out and that has not happened yet. Once you see some new damper products released the Gaui 200s won't be long behind.

Thanks for being patient guys.

Mike

any word on these dampeners?

Again I'm sorry for the very long wait, however this time I come with good news. I have a run of the Gaui 200 dampers that are ready for testing. Since I don't have the helicopter I can't try them for myself. They feel really good from just test fitting them though.

I feel bad that I have had Rotorhead58d's parts for almost this whole year without any results. So to thank him and all the pilots for your patience on this, I have decided to give these parts to the pilots who have been waiting for them. Anyone who has posted on this thread prior to this post will be eligible for 2 free sets. Just send me your shipping address and your post# from this thread and I'll get them out to you this week.

I had these made from the new very stiff and durable green material. These are the smallest parts I have made to date but I am confident they will have good results. I have attached a photo of the parts installed in the head block Rotorhead sent me.

Please send thanks to Rotorhead58d for letting me use his parts for such a long period of time. Without his help I wouldn't have been able to make these.

i'm pretty sure they still use the same dampers on the V2, right?
