Hey all,
Feeling kinda stupid on this one....I know its gonna be something simple and I'm just missing it with my unfamiliarity with the DX7 as I'm switching over from my DX6i. I'm trying to set the pitch curve for normal on my DX7. Got the mechanical's set fine to +/- 12 degrees of pitch, and now I'm trying to reduce that for normal mode to -3 and +12. Have the flight mode switch to normal (0) and throttle hold 'on'. Put on my pitch gauge, throttle is at low point, point #1 in the menu, and when I hit the adjust button in the normal pitch menu, I'm expecting to see movement of the blades...nothing !! :dontknow I can move it all the way to zero and no movement whatsoever...plus, shouldn't I see a pitch change if I was to hit the flight mode switch to say idle 1 or 2 ? What am I doing wrong ? Shouldn't have to rebind, do I just need to turn the TX on/off or what? So close to maidening this thing and now I'm stuck.....

Thanks

and throttle hold 'on'.

Turn off Throttle hold.

Throttle hold overrides Normal, Stunt 1 and Stunt 2. So whatever pitch is programmed in Throttle Hold will be where the blades stay at that stick position.

you can't adjust your pitch with throttle hold on, unplug one of the motor bullet connectors, then plug in your batt, then set your pitch without the motor spooling up,its that simple. when you unplug one of the motor bullet connectors & plug a batt in, the ESC should still go through its settings, then after the ESC beeps your gyro should be lit up & it should be ready to fly so to speak, now set your pitch.. the reason for that, is some times you unplug a bullet connector & then when you plug a batt in, it doesn't go through the normal steps, so plug it back in & try another one there is only three so it wont take long to sort out hope that helps:thumbup:

Ah, thanks...I knew it was gonna be something simple like that. Didn't have to worry about these issues when I was setting up my 600N...no need for throttle hold !!

Didn't even think about the throttle hold overriding all the others...duh!! Should of realized that as the throttle hold has its own curves to set.....

Thanks sooo much...this was driving me nuts...NOW I can maiden the thing tonite !!:thumbup:

I did it a little differently... Hopefully this gives the correct result :dontknow
Put the TX into throttle hold with a linear curve and went into the throttle curve setting area (the one that indicates "in" and "out" values).
Measured min and max pitch (which was ~+12/-12).
Ran the throttle stick up until I got -4 degrees and -3 degrees and noted the percentage of throttle stick for each of these numbers -4 = 30 and -3 = 37.
Disconnected my battery on the heli for safety.
Entered normal pitch programming and set normal pitch curve to [37, 43.5, 50, 75, 100]
Exited programming mode, reconnected battery, and then at low stick in normal mode I verified -3 degrees.Comments?

I guess the big danger is that I could accidently switch out of throttle hold, but I was being super careful...

hmmmm...pretty ingenious actually...same result w/o having to disconnect the motor. Oh, and it did come out real close to yours...My pitch was also set to +/- 12 degrees and I also set my normal pitch to -3 degrees at low stick, which came out to [40, 45, 50, 75, 100]...so you were spot on! Remember that one for next build....

Actually, I did like jackp1 suggested last night before I had a chance to read yours, but thanks anyways.

...and btw, that worked jackp1 !! Thanks again...it was the blue motor lead that still allowed your ESC to go thru its settings, but disconnected your motor....basically put it into throttle hold without having to worry about bumping the switch.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to this until late last night. I couldn't resist though, I had to go out to my garage and at least spooled the beast up !!:shock: WHOA, is all I can say....

Can't wait to maiden it tonight, hopefully this SE wind thats blowing now will calm down by tonight !!
