Here are pics of one 550 with the 600 gear installed, with the stock skids. I'm holding the stock gear centered so you can see the height and width difference. The stock skids have never bent or come loose since I've installed them. I never countersunk the screw heads to dress it up sweet because I was only looking for functionality, not aesthetics. The stock skids are not a perfect match for holes in the gear, but then again, neither are the gear to the mounting holes. They can easily be modded to fit and once done, they hold up well to daily flights and field landings.

I've tried the standard skids, the Helidirect slightly wider and stronger skids, the std Trex 600 skids and the "3D" Trex 600 skids. I found the std (well actually the Helidirect ones - never actually tried std) to be much narrower, harder to see, and more likely to topple over on a bad landing than the Trex 600 under-carraige. I did buy the trex 3D version to try, but they are much heavier so I have never tried them - for me it's the std Trex every time :)

when they're saying it lowers the CG they are of course referring to lowering the CG of the Trex600. I ordered the nice wide 600 3D gear :D http://www.readyheli.com/H60038_Landing_Skid_Set_TREX_600_p/h60038.htm

I got one set of the orange ones for $6.99 for the z30 heli and then another set (same style) that were black to put on the z20 heli. They are tougher than the other thinner 600 gear and they work fine with the stock gaui skids.. just have to open up the holes a bit and run larger + longer screws to get a good secure fit.
PLease elaborate on the above.....which skids (link if possible)
The 600 pipes are much bigger, so are the skids you ordered for the 600? I wouldn't think they would use skids with much smaller holes, but anythings possible.
Post a link to what you bought, I would be interested in buying some that I can use my Gaui pipes on.
Thx

It may sound complicated, but it only took me 20 mins to have the gear done on both helis. It took me longer to mod the gear holes to mount them to the frame than it did to mount the stock Gaui skid tubes.
The only thing i bought were two sets of these, one black and one orange (they were only 7 bucks each):
http://www.readyheli.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=H60126%2D87&CartID=2
I used the stock Gaui poles. I opened up the holes in the gear with a dremel, and used longer, thicker screws.
I just put in some cut out plastic spacers (halves of old sharpie pen caps met dremel heheh) in the skid tubes (inside the landing gear holes, above the stock Gaui poles, but below the screw ends. In other words, the spacers halves sit on the skid poles and the screws come down and sandwich the spacers on the poles holding them in place and providing a stronger connection than a screw end alone could. You can use lots of things for the spacers.. i just used what i had here around the house. I could have just bought other tubes for a few bucks more, but i hate to buy stuff when i can make the stuff work that i already have on hand since when it crashes it all gets worked over anyway lol.

That is how I did it the one end of the pin is a little smoother than the other push that one and yes it takes a little force get it out a mm or so and then use a plyers to wiggle out the rest.

I just pushed mine out with a small driver also....it should only be the resistanceof the plastic holding it in....

Don't know how far you have it apart, but I would take both sides of the case off and then rest the pulley on top of something with a hole it and "beat the @#$%^ pin out"...
Don't let no little pin get the best of you..it has to be the plastic holding it because i just replaced one tonight and the shaft hole is much bigger than the pin.

Mike....
Can you find something like a very small socket, like 1/8 inch and place it under the pin...(do the flush side) then use small nail or other strong object beat the @$^$&& out of the pin.....it "has to come out" a lot of times I even use a small vice or even a good set of pliers to force pins out. it just takes the right pressure.
Keep at it....

Maybe somebody CA'd yours in because mine came out with very little pressure.
