The Guai upgrade motor is definitely a strong motor in the 550; however, it's also a power hog. I'm getting 5:00 max doing aero and mild 3D on FlightPower 3200 Evo 30s. Gearing is 20T pinion with a 68T Revco gear and 20T OWB. ESC is a CC HV85 in fixed heli mode running a 100% flat curve in idle-up. I'm currently using 500mm wood blades and turning 2200 head speed. I'm looking for motors that would be as powerful and a little more efficient.
I've looked at the Z30 and the Scorpion 1210kV motors. How do they compare?

the z30 would be a better choise because as you get into 3d it will have more power... but i would be careful of running woodies at 2200rpm, their not ment for that kind of rpm

I will have 500mm CF blades coming soon. I have 550mm CF blades, but I would have to put the long tail on and get it all setup for that to work.

I doubht you will gain much, but going with carbons you will gain a little also going to the 21t revco gearing will help. do you have the rcp H/18 1000kv that you purchased seperatly from ready heli or do you have the upgrade motor that come with the "pro" kit? if have this motor and not the Actual H/18 you may gain some time. I reciently went with the Scorpion 1000kv and it has no where near the H/18 performance and i only gained 30-40 seconds of flight, my thoughts are the H/18 geared properly is acctually a very good motor! but then again the Z30 and the Scorpion motors are also very good and probalby are a bit more efficient but in acctual flight time it won't be much. i would go with the Scorpion 1210kv myself!

I got the CFS kit with this motor: Gaui Upgrade Motor (http://www.readyheli.com/855502_GAUI_Hurricane_550_Brushless_Motor_1500W_k_ p/855502.htm). It's got plenty of power and I guess I shouldn't expect too much more than 5:00 min runtime. I'm running the 20T pinion now. I have 19-22 pinions.
I can get the Scorpion Motor to try pretty easily. I was thinking the 1210 with a 20T pinion would be about right.
I've given some thought to going back to the 550 blades. I have a pair of 550 CF blades and I have a long tail and TR pushrod. I could do the conversion in about an hour. I figure run time would be a little less though.

the H/18 is what I was running for the past 5 or so months, I found the 21t pinion worked best, the H/18 gets real power hungry if it is overgeared and also if it is undergeared causing it to be overreving!
I got 4.5 minute 3D from my Evo 2500 packs so you should be seeing closer to 5.5-6 easily on your larger packs. I reciently switched to the Scorpion 1000kv because I am running 8s A123 which was overreving the RCP. I now get5 minutes with the A123's

Which OWB do you have, 19T or 20T?
It makes about a tooth and a half difference on the pinion.
At 80% throttle, I've got 2150 headspeed with what I have now. If I go back to a 21, it would be close to 2300. Since I am still running 500mm woodies, it might be best if I geared it down with a 19T. The wood blades might be causing some weird vibration problems I'm seeing right now. I'm also considering using the governor and setting the head speed at 2100 with that.
When I get 500mm CF blades and the CNC blade grips, I plan to turn it up to 2400 and see what happens.

Just looked at the motor. It's actually the H24/11H
