This looks like it could be useful for some of the guys doing photog stuff with point and shoot cameras. This simple and easy (I like easy) Hack allows you to turn loose the power of your little digital. I have not tried it yet but am going to give it a look, I just wanted to post while I was thinking about it.

Yep, works good for supported cameras. You'll find many more users and their experiences if you do a search under CHDK.

Definately, go for it.

Been looking for something like this to use on my Fuji F30.. Haven't found anything yet, may have to pick up a cheap Canon.

Kiwi, I believe the A640's have come down in price. I use the CHDK on one. It (A640 with CHDK onboard) has more features than I can understand. Really. RAW baby RAW !
With the A640 and CHDK you can bypass some of the shortcomings of a Canon P$S camera in USB mode, ie. manual focus is now supported, RAW,ISO 40+ to ISO 10,000 +???super high speed shutter. Long term exposure. Don't get me started!
Gotta do it.

And CHDK can be used on the A650 now as well... I've been waiting for it to support this camera for a long time! CHDK works great and there's so much features it will keep you busy for quite a while.

Anybody aware if the SD1100 (Ixus 80) is supported or will be supported ?
After waiting for a long time hanging some real small P&S under my 450, I expect that the size and spec of that camera might fit me. CHDK would be a great additional benefit to the fact that the camera is finally what I am looking for (small, really light, optical VF, reasonable picture quality, normal video included, good lens for outside)

I dont see that camera in the list but I´m sure if you ask on the CHDK forum and there´s enough interest it will be supported.

Thanks.

The camera is rather new, as I understood. I am a little afraid that it will take some time before they will hack it. And I lack knowledge and time to do it myself.

I caved an purchased the last PowerShot A560 we had in stock.. The perks of working in retail.

Got it fired up with an interval script that will take a picture every 'x' seconds.. And in RAW too!

Loving it.

Just gotta wait for some tail parts for my bird and I'll work on getting some pics up.

Very cool thread! I have a Canon I might tinker with.

If you get a gentLED cable, you can use your radio to trigger the shutter on your canon camera using a CHDK script.

You'd have to contact Fuji. I don't believe they support remote shooting but my only experience was a Fuji E900.
