View Full Version : X9303 gyro menu question

I am presently using the AUX2 channel to control my gyro gain, and it is set at 65% gain. I needed to use the AUX2 channel to be able to switch easily from normal to HH mode ( G770 gyro needs to be well set-up in normal mode to work correctly in HH).

Now my question is.... I want to use the gyro menu, but I need to know what is the magic formula to transfer my 65% "travel adjust" gyro gain to an equivalent percentage in "gyro menu percentage".... I know this formula has been figured out with the DX7 ( don't remember the formula though), now I'd like to know if there is such a formula for the X9303.

Thank you!

If your only going into rate mode once for setup don't bother with setting it up on the radio. Just turn down the gain on the gyro menu to put it into rate mode, adjust the slider for no drift then back the gain back up to put it into HH mode.

But it's already adjusted.... And now I want to use the gyro menu and need to translate 65% gain in "travel adjust" terms to a gyro menu percentage. I know there is a formula that Bob Finless figured ( or Jermo maybe) in a video for the DX7. I need to know if there is such a formula for the x9303.

You might wonder why I want to use the gyro menu instead of leaving the gyro on the normal AUX2 channel.... well the AUX2 channel is a 3 positions switch. If it's up or down, I can set a gain no problem. But if I accidentally bump it in the middle, I'm afraid gain could go to zero and make the Rappy quite interesting to fly. Not that I accidentally bump switches very often, but I try to avoid situations where my friend Murphy could play tricks on me.

And I can't use the gear channel for the gyro.... I have a Revmax and use the GOV menu (gear channel)

If your using the AUX2 channel for the gyro gain and thus get to use the gyro menu the AUX2 switch is disabled. The Gyro menu is tied into the flight mode switch.

True if the gyro menu is enabled... For now it is disabled, and the AUX2 ATV controls the gain. It is set right now at 65%.

I want to enable that gyro menu ( and have gain selection tied to my FM switch). However, what I want to know is how to translate that 65% gain in "normal AUX2 channel language" to 65% gain in "gyro menu language".... ie, if I dial 65% in the gyro menu, it will NOT be the same as 65% in my "normal AUX2 channel percentage". I think I saw a video of the DX7 where there was a formula given to convert these percentage. I don't remember which video, and I don't know if the formula will work with the X9303.

Sorry I keep trying to explain as clearly as possible.... however English isn't my first language so maybe my question might seem a bit confusing....

okey i see what your getting at. I think you will spend more time trying to figure out the translation between the % using ATV and the gyro %. I would suggest just redoing the gain adjustments with the gyro menu, it doesn't take a long time adjust gain.

I found the video... Go to about 12 minutes into the video. Now I will have to figure it the formula works for the X9303

65 divided by 1.44= about 45

50+45= 95.... I would have to set the gyro to 95% in the gyro menu....

There is no way thats right. My gain on my 450se with a 2100T gyro is around 65% to give you an idea.

This is on a raptor 50.... Gain is much higher on these bigger helicopters than on a smaller one.

I had the G770 installed on a T-Rex 450 and I had the gain set at 11% ( on the gear channel, not gyro menu). I took the gyro out of the T-Rex and installed it on the Raptor and the gain is at 65% now.

And to give another example.... I have the gain set at 35% with a 401 in the T-Rex, and it was at 81% when in the Raptor....

Maybe something is wrong with your raptor :)

hehe time to go to bed.... Guess I'll figure this out tomorrow.

Thank you

The same "formula" that sets gain at the gyro on the DX7 works in the 9303. Both of my Trex 600s with 611 gyros are set in the Tx at 75. The gyro displays an AVCS gain of 36
(75 -5- * 1.44 = 36). Similar numbers work on my 401s on the 450s and the Raptor 50 and the Spartan on my new Trex 500

Why use a formula? That goes in baby boottles! Just An old Math joke!
on the DSX9 50 is 0 just try it at 75 and just start to hover. If it wags, turn it down. If it hunts, turn it up. Then after its stable, do a hard climb out and see if it kicks out. Just adjust until its where you want and record that value for future referance.

I eneded up doing it that way. But I wanted to know the formula to ayway to determine actual gain.

Thank you!
