I am considering buying a 200 SD to fly in my garden I am just learining inv. hover with my 550 and Trex 450. I see flying hobby has some good deals, but I was wondering how good that little gaui gyro is? I was considering using an AR6100 and a logictech 2100T+s3154 - the 401 seems way to big for this little beast?
Thanks.

I changed the gaui 201 gyro in mine, because I could not get it to set up without drifting. I used a CSM SL420e , and now have a JR DS380G digital servo on the tail.. This has made a vast difference to the heli , the JR servo is very fast, and the CSM gyro is brilliant. ( its also very easy to set up, and trim, as, I'm sure, any CSM users will agree)

And which is better the SD or SE, I always thought the belt drive was better.

Mine's a belt drive, only problem so far was the bearings on the tail shaft, loose in the cf plates, but that could happen with the SD as well. I've not had any problems with the belt drive that would convince me to change it to SD.. I think its a brilliant heli, I would recommend it to anyone. If you crash a lot, the belt drive is probably going to be the better option, as far as repair costs go. My opinion would be YES you should get one.

Futaba GY-401 fits between frames with room to spare , The wires from Gyro can slip between the frame and Gyro, so that is why i say you have room to spare .
actually may help because it was not that hard to get Heli with Level CG .
then again mine is alittle heavy at 280 plus grams , that is with plastic Canopy too.;)
But I have "bling" boom mount and Main Bearing carrier .
I would plan on getting Tail up grades the stock one is sticky like a MX400(ark400) tail because of the plastic, so far with Gaui's new cnc slider , Tail control set , and MH tail/hub assembly , and maybe 3 hrs of tweaking the tail can be as smooth as oiled glass.
Seems to be a good little heli , probably the Best sub Micro out there .
I still like the Align product better , but they don't make a sub micro.
documentation is very weak, Design seems to be a work in progress.
If you like to Tinker , this is a great lil'bird.

I bought the 200SD light combo from Flying-Hobby for $415 shipped and have been very happy with it. I was a little apprehensive about the servos and gyro but have been impressed so far after about 30 flights. I set the Gaui 210 gyro up using the same procedures as a 401 and it has no drift at all. The only thing I had to do was add some delay for the tail servo to get rid of some slow wag. The gyro came with no manual and I was unable to find it online. Considering you get servos, gyro,2 batteries, and an aluminum case for about the same price as the U.S. online retailers are selling the heli kit only for, you really can't go wrong. The included aluminum case is just the 450SEV2 small parts case but works very well.

I've got the Align 450v2 and 600,
The GAUI200 has become my favorite helicopter though.
I'm using the Logictec 2100 gyro and 3100 servo, went with Dymond cyclics, all of the above to keep the weight down. I keep forgetting to weigh it and report back, but it's a rocket!
Fly's incredibly well, and the upkeep is ea$y.
I guess I'm ending up a 200 evangalist, but I don't care how that sounds, It's not like I get commission or anything.
I get my stuff from HeliHobby, whenever I can. They're starting to stock more stuff, and the technical support is superb (the rats, all of them fly better than me ;-) RediHeli and A-Main also have them, Flying-Hobby has a great selection, but they're oversees and only take paypal.
We have'nt had a lot of feeback on the shaft drive tail, but I doubt that you will go wrong in any case. My suggestion would be to just get one or the other and go flying. I'd keep it simple and light. To be honest, I think a 401 on the GAUI-200 is not a good choice, I've got about five brands of gyro flying, including the 401, and I would definately recommend the 2100, it's better and way lighter. If you want to get wild, Buzzkill recommends the Spartan, It's looking pretty good to me as well, err, for my <next> 200....
...and get a magnifying glass, and some jeweler's screwdrivers ;-)
