Ok, here it is Otto, Lock and others who asked about it, my field box. This is a prototype of sorts. There are a few changes I will be making to it later and possibly some other additions/improvements. It took about five takes of video. Either my dogs had to start playing and barking in the background, or I would drop something and mess up, or my neighbor’s car alarm going off. It never failed. This version is not too bad. There are a few bloopers in it but you will have to deal with it. I did this so many times, I dreamt about it last night.

There is one thing I forgot to cover in the final vid (did in others), and that is how I attached the wooden boxes to the tackle box. I used what are called T Nuts. You can get them from the big home improvement stores (well, I know HD for certain). The T Nut goes on the box side and a bolt goes from the inside of the box out and through the box into the T Nut. There are washers inside the box to distribute the load as to not tear the plastic tackle box. I think you can sort of see a T Nut in the shot of my battery box.

I hope this helps some with ideas of how to build theirs. I would also like to see what other people have done. Post a vid or pics and share.

Pretty cool - I am not the tweaker/builder - I just use a wingtote bag for my heli/radio/batts/chargers and a simple tackle box for tools and parts.

You said batt 2 is dead, what happened to it, how did it die?

HeliMix

Not sure how it died. I take good care of them. I called Horizon and they just said dispose of it and we will send you a new one. My guess, one of the cells shorted. It started giving me charge errors.

Yea, I like the red bag and was eye balling it. I may still get one to carry the heli itself in. I had four of those Plano boxes from my lock days. So, rather than buy more stuff now I went with it.

I have 3 boxes wanted more but discontinued......I was trying to have one box per heli....the tote bag is nice its not as soft as it looks and I can fit the B400 and HBFP in it and all the other stuff too...

I have already thought about it. When I get more helis, the Plano box will become just a tool box. Then, there will be some sort of parts box with each heli. To me, tools are like toys, he who dies with the most...

Great vid bro!! I'm impressed. I just use a "WalMart" tool box right now. It holds both my CX & CX2 along with both radios and all the tools I need. When I move up to a Blade 400 I'll need to "Upgrade" as well

I do have one question though...

you mentioned "Dial Micrometer" in your vid but you were showing "Dial Calipers" instead.

Dial Caliper is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imageial_calipers.jpg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Dial_calipers.jpg)

Dial Micrometer is

I have a machinist back ground and I've heard several mentions of "Dial Micrometer" on here and always wondered who/where they were using them. Now I see the light *Grins*

Not busting your chops bro.... just showing where I was misunderstanding the terms *S*

What do you carry your heli in?

Thanks for taking the time and effort to show off your stuff!! :clappp

You da man :D

Well, you found one of the bloopers I mentioned. I always say that but mean the other. I'm just the son of an engineer so... Cut me some slack! One of the others is I call my pitch gauge a pitch guide. I guess I get a little nervous infront of the camera still. The worse thing is when I start getting the coughs or my mouth goes dry, 5 minutes from the end of the taping.

Right now, I carry the heli in my hand. Why, do you carry your's in a wheel barrow? Wagon? :rolling Yes, I am a smart arse. I am thinking about getting the same wing tote bag Lock has.

Oh gotcha!! So it was like a "find the blooper contest"~ SWEET!!

I carry mine inside the toolbox (2 of them) but remember I'm still flying the CX & CX2 so there is a WORLD of difference there.

At one point in time I saw a tool box at WallyWorld that would have definitely held the Blade. I went there shortly after getting it and they did not have them any more. It was a no name thing but it was an all metal toolbox. Would have been perfect to protect her.

From farthest tip to tip (in storage/folded mode) what is the length? Also what's the total height of the B400?

Not sure as I am at er... um... work right now. Who is home and can measure it? BigAl is going to go out and find us a tool box that works. ;)

In case anyone else wants it, I made a PDF of the wind chart seen in my feild box video. Just print it and cut it out. It is small enough to be laminated and kept in your wallet (if you really want to, I keep mine in my flight box, I'm not that bad... Yet.)

You can download it here (http://www.worldkarting.com/heli/pocketwindchart.pdf). I will likely have to remove this from the server it is on eventually, but it is there for now. Get it if you want it.

I honestly think the one I have at home will come CLOSE! And it's got 3 really cool "Removable" storage compartments built into the lid too.

Ok......NOW I HAVE TO HAVE ONE.....

I just spent a TON fixing the bird and now I have to keep up with HELIMIX and his tool box!

I've been using the box that the heli came in for my extra parts and tools, but everytime I move it to the table it's impossible to find the part I'm looking for.

GREAT IDEA!!!!

Helimix is too organized makes me sick LOL

Okay I have to admit, its a good setup

and GOOD NEWS on the 600 NO FIRE and it hovered okay with a little tweaking.......the DS821 servo cant handle it though. so I need to find a bigger better servo for the tail before I can do anything with it.

Well, be careful. Gravity seems to be winning a lot of battles this week. Poor Murf. Got bit hard. :(

While flying today, I was about to step out from control to cocky and caught myself and then stepped back. I have plenty ot time to learn. Then, when I landed for the last time, I was too close to the edge and that blue foam board is crap. It tilted a tiny bit, heli slides on it to... Noses over towards the grass. I thought, yep, that's it. Fortunately it didn't touch. I knew it was time to call it quits then for sure. :)

Turn the lights out when you all leave. I'm heading to bed.
