This is a follow on Post to the replacement Head Damper search thats running... In the end i just emailed Mike Trueblood yesterday to ask for his advice and this was his response:
"Sorry but I really don’t want to release any information about the products used in production. I am always looking for new product ideas, is there enough interest to warrant a damper run if I made them?"
Understandable... Mike wants to hold onto the trade information.. but great news for us:thumbup: Just a quick poll to find out if you would buy Trueblood dampers for the Gaui 200 if they were availible. Ok, so we will never be in the same sort of numbers as the "Align Marketing Machine" followers, just wanna know if there are enough interested people to make it worthwhile for Mike to help us.

this problem must have a fix. gaui should come out with a better dampener. some do not have this issue. i've had it since day one. i'm trying the hotglue tip from larry. i'm getting tired of paying for other peoples research, or waiting for said research results. if companies put out a product, it must be tested and so forth. bag that! it would take trueblood, or anyone else months to have a product available.
still, i voted yes.

I hear what you're saying and i agree with it.. it should be up to Gaui to fix this Damper "Feature" on the 200. But look at it this way also... Firstly we can all complain about the problem and either do nothing about it or come up with our own mods to fix the problem.. and however good we think our home made solutions are, they usually are just not good enough to be repeated by everyone else to the same standard. Then once someone has found a solution that works, everyone else will have to do it on their new models... better to fix the root problem and send Feedback directly to Gaui and get them to address it at source. The Gaui 200 market is very small in a hobby that is pretty small also... so its in the manufacturers interest to listen to all customer feedback, if enough people say the same thing then they will address the issue. The other thing you can do is dangle the sales "carrot" in front of a small company like Trueblood Engineering and tell them there is a problem that needs fixing and if they want to try and find a solution, we will buy it. The fact that a similar product exhists for the 450 V2, suggests that most of the research has probably been done on the material; Its just the dimensions of the damper that need to be figured out. The other up side to a getting a small Engineering firm interested is they can make other useful stuff if they see a market there... I ended up spending about 2hrs making a swash leveling/spacing tool featured here:

...i wish i could have just bought one for a few bucks! I guess what i'm saying is an off-the-shelf solution is always more desirable... untill we get that from Gaui or another third party, we should still try and solve it ourselves. :)

i picked up a hot glue gun today. i couldn't find fuel tubing the right size. i still haven't had time to rummage through the o ring bin at my work.

i have an idea to get trueblood's blood moving. if we time it right between all the 200 owners, we could flood his phone with calls. what do you think?:YeaBaby:

LOL, No need for the phone calls. This is one of the situations where its more about helping fellow pilots than making money. All I really need to make some dampers is a spindle, stock dampers, and head block. I should be able to fit the dampers into one of my next molds without too much trouble. They won't be perfect since I can't flight test them, but it sounds like anything would be better than what you have. If someone wants to lend me these parts I could have something ready in the next few weeks.

Put me on the list for a set ! Glad to hear that will be one less problem I'll have to deal with , although the Gaui doesn't have many of them.

Excellent!! Let the rest of us know how the tests go, although the block may need to be tweaked also. If it all goes well, what about a 'Disty' this side of the pond.... maybe Fast Lad?

..Sorry Mike, didn't mean it to sound like your motivation was the almighty Dollar... was just generalizing for small companies:oops:

Mike,
Nice, really nice, and greatly appreciated!
I'm in as well, if you need anything that the lads can't find on the workbench let me know.
If you need a heli to test, I will ship you mine. I just need it back before my heart breaks, and preferably with an autograph on the canopy ;-)
No worries, claims, liabilities for damages etc. Just return the unused portion. It may take a few days for me to get back home to send it though. Let me know...
