Hello

I have been building my new Intrepid EB Kit. Its more fun than I thought.
I have just completed aligning the engine clutch, main, tail gear. I think I have it as smooth as I can get it.

I hear others have had to mod the frame in order to get a good mesh.
Is it really needed?

I cant wait to get it in the air!

Cheers

I had no problems with mine. Everything lined up without any mods.

Im trying to get through the tail drive shaft construction at the moment.

You should not have to touchthe frames, I have built several of them and never had a problem. Good luck with the rtest of the build and thanks for choosing the Bergen.

If I could figure out how to put photos in my posts, I'd put up a few for you. (Tried several times unsuccesfully... can anyone shed some light?)

I have a few in my HeliFreak gallery, and some on my Rotory and RunRyder galleries as well. Additionally, I have about a hundred assembly photos on my PC.

Are those wood blades on the EB? I wasn't aware that 800mm woodies even existed!

Nope those are 720 woodies,I have the $300 Hi Products (hi lift blades) in a sack only for special circumstances.

just got my servos in: futaba 9101 on the gas, digital 9252 on all flight controls
my gyro will come with its own servo.

the 9252 has 91.7 oz - in at 4.8V

I hope these have the juice for the job.

anyone using these servos?

Should be fine. I use a JR 8231 digital on my collective, and it seems to do the job. The torque specs are similar. I'm not a stick-pounder, though, so I don't know how well that would hold up to repeated abuse.

Funny thing here, my balls will not screw into my swashplate holes. looks like they did not get a clean tap from the factory. I will have to send the SWplate back to Bergen. not a big deal I need to order my blades, canopy and gyro anyway. Not gonna bother with the split lexan deal yet.

I wanted to be done tonight :bomb:

Buddykitchen

I hear you bro! Im also not a stick pounder myself :smokin:
Whats the torque on yours?

ShawnK

An 8231 is rated for 88 oz. and .22 seconds. I also use Airtronics 94453 contest servos on cyclic, which are rated for 100 oz. and .17 seconds (all at 4.8 volts).

I originally had a 94453 on collective as well, but it had a bad pot on my L/R cyclic servo that caused a crash, so while I sent it back to ATX for repair, I moved the collective servo to cyclic and installed the 8231 since I had it laying around anyway. Personally, I can't tell a difference (the 94453 is analog), but I'm sure the 8231 has better resolution.

Before you send it off,

Which holes are you having a problem with? If you're having a problem with the inner holes and the medium balls that thread in there, check that the threads on the balls aren't too long and bottoming out on the "eyeball". A little removal of the end of the threads wil usually take care of it.

Just a thought.

C. Bergen, I will give it a go.

Its the short balls that have the problem going in on the outer swashplate.
The threads are hardly visible. the inner threads look good though. I tested a
long ball and it worked fine on the inner.

I will do like you say and remove a thread out two and see how it goes.

Buddykitchen,

How bad was the crash? I will have my fingers crossed on my maiden fight:!:
I will be sure to make sure I have no binding on my servos for sure.

This may sound crazy but it would be good to have a tool the could check the condition of your servo from time to time. This would save modelers arses a ton of money.

after having a closer look with a friend. There is binding between the inner and outer plates. This is for sure a defective part.

These things happen Im sure. The kit still rocks!!

How bad was the crash?

The first one (the one caused by the servo) wasn't that bad. Blades, flybar, pitch arms, and main shaft/spindle were about it. The second crash (most recently) was pretty bad. I was sitting in about a 3 ft. hover, and it just went full negative collective and smashed itself into the ground. So far, my repair list is at about $500 and growing.

I've been chasing down some kind of intermittent radio problem. No luck yet. :arggg: I wouldn't worry too much about yours, though, or you'll never get it in the air.

I'm sure you'll be fine, and you'll love how it flies!

There are more in my galleries on HeliFreak, RunRyder, and Rotory. I wish I knew how I got that first picture to look so good! (Had just bought my camera, and was learning how to use it!)
