Hopefully this will be of relevence to others, but I am having difficulty setting up the Gyro aspect in the DX6i. Am certain I have the leads correctly ordered in the Rx [4 rudder, 5 HH lead], but what do I have to set in the DX6i? Where does the gain have to be set on the HH gyro? What i would like is to be in normal RATE mode and have the ability to switch to HH mode using the FLAP/GYRO switch on the Tx. Have lookes at the Finless videos [ccpm 1,2, gyro, and setting up a DX7, and DX6, but the latter have different menus/options to the DX6i]
Any ideas fratefully accepted!!!!!.

Had a quick look at the manual
I think you find a solution on page 116 /117

Well i read that, but it makes no sense at all to me!!!!!!!! What is FMODE? STUNT,etc?

Ok this is what I make of it F.mode = gear/ flight mode switch topleft of the tx
is the same as our idle up switch 0 = normal flight (-2° to +10°) , 1 = stunt (-10° to +10°)
In the manual the switch they use is the gyro switch the one you like to use , there is only one thing that puzzles me and that are the settings 0 = 50% I think it should be -50% for rate mode
Perhaps Ian can clarify

This is what i have at the moment.
Gyro settings
sw - gyro [ I assume that refers to the flap/gyro switch, and the 0,1 below refer to the switch position ]
0 +28%
1 +72%
With the switch at up [0], I get full deflection of the tail rotor, both ways, and when I put the swith down [1], there is absolutely no change from the above.
Where should the gain be on the actual gyro? Does it matter?

In my opinion the settings you use should work and you always have full deflection in rate and hh, the difference is ,in rate mode when you center stick the servo centers, in hh mode the servo lingers and don't return to center

That's what i thought, but the tail reacts the same, whichever mode; always returning to the mid-point.

....so i guess for some reason I am in rate mode. Where should the gain be set on the actual gyro?

With my telebee I had to go the full 100% on the gain but for the esky I don't know

wonder if there is something silly, like 0 has to be HH and 1 rate? Might try it out and see.....

Back to basics
If you don't connect the single orange wire, the gain pot on the gyro works. Below 50% is rate mode, above is HH.
If you connect it to the signal pin (same as the white wires) the gyro switch on the transmitter will work but the gain pot will be disabled. You can flip between rate and HH but you can't adjust gain using the stock Tx.
If you connect the wire to ground, the gyro is always in HH mode and the gain pot is enabled. At this price each gyro is an individual, and for some of them this is the only way to tune it for proper HH performance. If you don't miss rate mode, this is often your best option.
helihathnofury if you got some time to check someting out
Like mr Finn stated disconnect the single orange wire, gian 100% and test for HH mode or connect the wire to ground (in line with the black wires) and test for HH mode
So whe can tell if the gyro is working ok
