Hey guys!
Just playing with some numbers here...
Does this math look correct:
~ $510 T-Rex 500 CF + 500L + BL60G 60A ESC + 425 CF Blades
~ $190 FMA 10s (A123 capable)
~ $300 Servos (3 x $100)
~ $300 Dewalt A123 (2 packs = 20 cells = 2 x 7S A123 packs)
======
= $1300
I have a spare AR6200, a GY4100 and a JR3400G for the tail (would that work?)
As I said, just playing with some numbers here...
Am I in the ball park?
Why A123s? Aren't they a little heavy for the 500? Check out a combo at www.grandrc.com. They will extend the combo price for extra lipos ($109 for the Aligns). Then, I would look at the Hyperion Duo, which will charge 10s, but more importantly will do 2 x 6s. I think you would be right around the same price and you wouldn't have to mess with making your cells and you would have a great charger. Just a thought.

You can knock the price for the servos down too. Popular servos for the 500 run $55 to $75 each

Yeah, and a bad crash will only cost 1/3 of the price of the heli. How do I know, you ask? Let me just say that asphalt is quite a bit harder than grass.:rolling

Recharge time.
I figured with A123s I can get away with owning less batteries and still have a few hours of flying.

You can get the kit for less with blades. Ctimrun paid 480 for CF kit with blades. It was $500 or $510 after tax at Utlimate Hobbies.

What? Not quite sure what you mean.
I posted you can get the kit for less WITH blades. Meaning you can get the kit for less than the $514 and $559 prices mentioned earlier .

I ordered some of the items from them as well as ReadyHeli and DeeTee Enterprises... All are safe bets for price and service...
I probably spent an extra grand on batteries and upgrades all told... :banana

What are good servos for the T Rex 500 at a decent price?

i dont know were you all are bying parts but thats unreal price for the 500 kit, i got mine when they first come out for 499 and they still are 499 when they get more in stock. and s9650 servos are only 51.99 so instead of the 300 dollars for servos there really only 150. so there is 200 you can knock off but thats the way i went you might want better than that.
