DX7 has 7 channels to start. :)
It also has more mixes.
The DX7 has 5 point pitch and throttle curves. The DX6 had 3 point curves.

He's asking about the 6i, which also has 5 point curves.

- The DX6i has a simpler programming menu; easier to use, but less powerful
- The DX6i is much larger; check them out in a store to see which one you like better
- The DX6i is better balanced
- DX6i = 4xAA batteries; DX7 = LiPO TX pack
I like the DX6i better overall, but wish it was smaller (like the DX7) since the DX7 lies in my hands better; the DX6i feels clunkier. But I'm not giving up the ease of rechargeable AA's and the nice user interface just yet ;)
I just got a DX6i and I like it pretty well. Plenty of tuning options to fly anything you want.
I have two issues with it so far that are problems. One, the timer buzzer is so quiet you can't hear it if holding the TX near waist level. I tried adding an additional Piezo buzzer to the front on the TX and wiring it to the board inside and that was a little better, but it's still to quite. I have resolved the issue by sticking a simple kitchen timer over the "DX6i" logo on the front of the TX and all is fixed. Just to bad a person buys a medium class radio with a built in timer and can't use it:(
Second issue is that one of my trim levers broke. Wasn't the micro switches (electronic trim) that quit working, but the plastic lever that actuates the switches actually broke. I called Horizon to see if they would send me a replacement, even If I had to buy it, and they would NOT! No way in hell I could talk them into sending me a 5-cent part that I could install in 2-minutes myself! They said the TX would have to be sent in! $20 shipping both ways and no TX for probably 3-weeks, no thank you! I just CAed is back together and it is holding fine.

I know the DX6i has 5 point curves. He said:

So I was pointing out that the older DX6 had 3 point curves, as he seemed to be wondering about that.
The DX6i radio itself comes with rechargeable pack, IIRC. The DX6i inlcuded with the Blade 400 does not.
The DX6i feels more plasticky than the DX7, which is more plasticky than the X9303.

If it counts for anything, the DX7 is made by JR while the DX6i is not. My guess is the significant difference will lie in the pots. Time will tell. Remember that pots are primarily responsible for "glitches" in RTF transmitter. Spektrum or not, if the pots get dirty, the heli will be glitchy.

"Pots"?

Potentiometer's
Used to adjust frequency inside the radio, most every electronic device that does any transmitting or recieving has one or more..
All electrical cicuits, even ones made by robots have small electrical differences, the design might call for a 2.4ghz output, but after manufacturing it might be 2.3996Ghz, so the 'POT' is adjusted to the right frequency, then usually filled with wax or glue to stop movement or fiddling.(they have a little screw in them for adjustment)

That is very interesting, I had no idea. Learn something new everyday :D
