This question is for guys who have both T500 and T600, how close is T500 to T600 in terms of flight characteristics? Is it night and day difference between them?

Thanks

Well i can say it closer to a T600 than it is to a T450.

But the T600 still still have an advantage because of the size. T500 has a superb power/weight ratio. So compared with the T450 it really close to the T600.

To me the 500 presents more like the 600 but moves more like the 450.

So, if you have a T500 you dont miss flying a 600? I am i right? I am asking this question because i fly T500 now and debating whether its a good idea to get a 600 also. If both are pretty close in flight characteristics will drop the idea of getting a 600.

Thanks

i would sell my 500 before my 600. you cant beat the presence of a 50 size heli or larger.

I have to disagree.... the 500 has become my favorite heli, even over the 600. Lipos are half the cost, and the 500 is more responsive. Just my 0.02

lipos are cheaper and the 500 is faster on the cyclics. i am running the hfx frames and flybarless now on the 600. even before flybarless i still liked the way the 600 tracked not as twitchy as the 5. that and the 600 still can handle the wind way better than the 500. dont get me wrong i love my 500, i just love my 600s more.

i dont really care about the prices of lipos either. when i was first learning i did because of crashing a ton. but now that i dont crash that often it is nice to spend money on something new like new lipos, motors, etc instead of crash replacements.

my mate just said 100 flights on T500 equvilent to £250 fuel for 600 nitro.
I done 100 flights with two batteries that cost total £150.

As for for a 600e i don't know

probably double that. the 600 is very hard on 6s bats. i have had one fp5000mah battery that lasted 300 plus flights. but that was only one out of 9 that i have bought so far. most of mine have lasted right around 150 to 200 cycles before they really start to go downhill. i have yet to run a battery till the end of its life on the 500. so i cant really say how they hold up with it. i have recently went 8s on the 600 and love it also i am goin to order the new outragerc 8s pack at like 259 bucks or something close you just cant beat that.

In terms of handling wind i have flown T500 in 15 mile/hour wind without any issue.

Thanks

The 500 will handle a 15mph wind but the 600 will handle it better , i have a 450V2 , 500CF , 600 superpro and there is no comparing the 500 and 600 in terms of flying likeness. they both fly great but there is no replacement for Size....

erniefritz,

Are 500 and 600 have night and day difference in terms of flight characteristics? I agree bigger the better.

Thanks

I'm in the exact same position... I have both a 450 and 500, and am considering a 600. However, if they fly similarly, then I'd rather not spend the money on something that flys very close to what I already have. If they are very different, then I'll get one. However, opinions very greatly on the matter. Here are some quotes that I've gathered from various forums on the subject...

"the 500 flies much more like the 600 than the 450 (IMO of course) - the 500 is more of a small 600 than a big 450"

"It’s (500) a lot more stable than the T-Rex 450 in a hover and actually flies similarily to the T-Rex 600."

"the 600 and 500 fly very close to the same. "

"as expected the T-Rex 500 flies much more like the T-Rex 600 than its smaller brother the T-Rex 450"

"Flies like a T-Rex 600"

And those who say its very different...

"will say having the 500 is great but its still nothing compared to a 600 machine. The 600n flys so GREAT"

"But for stability you can't beat 600"

"there is no comparing the 500 and 600 in terms of flying likeness. they both fly great but there is no replacement for Size...."

So... they obviously fly somewhat different, but how much so is very much in the air (no pun intended ;)). I would expect the huge blade size difference (there is a larger difference between the 425mm blades and the 600mm blades) than there is between any other heli size (450(325mm), 500(425mm), 600(600mm), 700(700mm), but from what I gather, the flight differences are smallest between the 500 and 600. I have not been able to make a decision yet as opinions seem to very too much.

i have two 600s that even being closely matched with parts , fly completely different to each other .

so its hard to say ve- or +ve 600 to 500

I do not have a 500 to start off.. I have a 450 but i have asked this to my club members (HELI of Long Island) and all of them and most have anywhere from 2 - 12 helis and the 500 right now is their favorite heli. Though it doesnt have the size of a 50 or 90 size heli, its more nimble and has almost the same stability with just short of the visibility. Pretty much most of them feel the 450, 500 and 90 size is what they would have if they only had to have 3 helis (like I said Im one of the few who has 1 heli).. If they chose between the 600 and the 500 most say get the 500 and then go with then 90...

But I would say most have the 600n and they all love that bird...

I prefer the larger birds, nothing like a 50 size electric on 10S!

i have a 450, a 500 and a 600N pro.
the 500 is my favorite...but I cannot fly a whole afternoon with it...if packs costs $10 each, it'd be a different story...In 2 weeks of 600N ownership, I was able to put as many flights as 2 months on the trex 500...and the 600N i can only fly week-ends.
500 electric/600N nitro is the best combo for me at this stage.
As to flying, the 600 is impressive in the wind...and the 500 is very very agile...
