I'm dying for the kit right now. I got all the stuff for it already. Finally I decided to go with a Jazz 55-10-32 over the CC 45HV. I love governor mode. Moreover I got Eagle Tree stuff ready for measuring currents, voltages, rpm... Let's see how a Jazz performs. Stay tuned guys!

This heli was a joy to build. super simple to follow pictorials in manual and builds fast. Corrado did a wonderful job of thinking of almost everything on this heli.

there is lots of space where the receiver installs to store the extra wiring. zip tie slts are molded into the frame design. even around the motor area to get esc radio wire past it.

not much that I can think of, was left out with this design. Built a few heli's now and I think this was the best so far.

I'm gonna use plastic screws for the landing gear so that I won't break the frame when I crash. I will re-drill the holes into 3mm and use M3x16mm plastic screws. You can find them at:

I was not missing any parts at all on my heli. haven't been able to fly it yet winds have been brutally fast here and want a nice calm day for the first hover with a new bird.
but I have had my first snafu with the bird already. with it hanging from the wall on a yard stick. I hang my heli's like this. I put the landing gear over the yard stick and let the tail fins rest against the wall. the msh tail fin snapped. haven't emailed corrado yet but will today.
Booger,
I noticed you have your gyro on top of the boom mount. Is there room to put it on the bottom?

Yea it will fit on the bottom no problem. hs-85 servo's fit no problem as well.you really have to make sure you size the links as I test hopped mine today and it is real jumpy so I am gonna have to go back and size the links some more.

Does anyone know where you can get specifications for the Protos? And where you can get this heli as well? The one place I found online had "Kit w/motor" and "Kit no motor" that was it as far as the product description. Great it comes with a motor, what motor? What are the recommended electronics? What is needed to complete the kit? This kind of information seems to be non existant even on MSH's website WTF? I don't think it's asking to much to know what is coming in the box for my money. Maybe I haven't looked in the right place but I shouldn't have to search for this kind of info.:dontknow
Jetleaf,
This is a brand new heli and very few sites carry it so far, thats why there is a lack of easy to find information currently. Most of the online sites that have it for ordering quickly put it up for sale for the people anxiously waiting for it. I would expect more details coming out for it over the next few weeks.
There are a few threads on the subject over at RCG that have a lot of information. Anticipated setup is the same as the Trex 500. The motor apparently is a 800KV Lipotech 26-10 custom built for the Protos: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9714656&postcount=2016

Booger,
What pinions did you receive in the kit? Boyd at RCG got a 15T and 18T. Did you get the same?

Thanks Ecaf, much appreciated. I would have thought that MSH would have all this info on their website, maybe it's a work in progress.

I think HighFreq is busy with his new baby.
As far as I know, here are the spec's:
- Mainblade size: 415mm-430mm
- Maingear: 97T
- Pinion: from 15T to 20T
- Al belt driven through out the heli
- 2mm flybar
- 4mm tail grip root
- 1520 all-up-weight with a 6s lipo 2500
- 17mm OD aluminum tail boom
- Supports mini sized servos having 2 mounting holes or 1 mounting holes
- Fits a 7s A 123 pack (horizontal cells: 2 cells lay on 5 cells). The auw becomes 1700 if I'm not wrong
- Metal hub, metal swashplate
- Programmable flybar:mainblade ratio
- Programmable flybar's weight
- The tail grips are designed based on Chinese weight theory so even with a mini size tail servo can have the same performance as a full size tail servo
- No static may appear since all is grounded to the motor by the belt
- Frame material: plastic + 30% carbon
- Stock motor: 800KV, 1100W, 4s-6s
- Stock blades: SAB 425mm
....
I think that's enough for judging on buying a helicopter.
I'm still dying waiting for mine.

Great thread. Could you take a picture next to something that we can reference the size to? A 450 or a coke can? :-)
I might get mine tomorrow, but then again I might not. :-\

just some test hovers. still working on sizing the links in the head. still seems little jumpy. it is quiet as can be for a heli this size though, kinda spooks me that i can't hear it if it gets 20 feet away.
