Finally a day with no wind!! Out practicing at a nearby soccer field, on the third battery and so far the best day of flying I have ever had. Still new to the addiction, trying nose in a few times, everything going great until gravity prevailed. Here's the sickening part, as it hit I saw water splash. Somehow I managed a pinpoint "Sideways" landing in a not so shallow puddle of water. Damage assessment not complete, still cleaning mud of remnants. Lesson learned: A helicopter will find the most inconvenient landing pad possible :)

Wow, you're brave.
Third battery and you were doing nose in hover? Im on my 20th some batt and still have yet to try to pull that off. Hopefully the damage is not too extreme and the water did not hurt anything.

I've got well over 100 batteries and I'm just now feeling like trying nose in - guess I'm slow
Sorry to hear about the puddle landing - make sure everything gets nice and dry before attempting to put power to it - if it were me I'd break out the blower.

A can of spray circuit board cleaner may not be a bad idea either to clean out the electronics.

Well, still a better man than I. I still get nervous trying nose in on the sim.

The sim really helped my with nose in. I think if remember correctly you have pheonix, so just go into hover training and select nose in orientation, and work slowly through it. Then move to doing slow piro's in one place and it should really help with orientation.
Going from sim to real life was pretty scary but after practicing nose in for a couple weeks (on the sim) it was pretty natural.

ouch . .. sorry for the crash . . . .

Decided to put a 401 Gyro on her while she's out of commision. Why are they always Girls? Anyway, damage not too bad, the usual stuff with lots of cleaning involved. Has anyone tried using an old flybar for a canopy mount? Looks like it should work.
